Thanh Hoa - Due to the impact of storms and rains, a school under construction suffered a serious landslide. Immediately after that, the authorities ordered all students to stay home from school.

On September 20, information from the People's Committee of Lang Chanh district said that on the morning of the same day, all students of Lam Phu Secondary School temporarily stopped going to school because the hill behind the school had suffered a serious landslide and many large cracks appeared.

In addition, the school is also mobilizing forces to urgently move all assets and teaching equipment to a safe place.

“After the landslide, the district proposed two options: one is to move all 276 students and teachers to study at Lam Phu Primary School. The other is to build a temporary school to ensure teaching and learning. It is expected that on September 20, the district will agree on the option," said a representative of Lang Chanh District People's Committee.

It is known that the Lam Phu Secondary School construction project was invested in July 2023. The project is a 2-storey classroom building (8 classrooms) and other auxiliary works. Up to now, the construction progress has reached about 80% when the incident occurred.

Accordingly, the landslide caused a large amount of rock and soil to flow into and tilt the row of houses, many concrete structures were cracked, and auxiliary items were buried.

The Steering Committee for Natural Disaster Prevention, Search and Rescue and Civil Defense of Thanh Hoa province said that the impact of storm No. 3 and heavy rains of storm No. 4 have caused damage in many localities of the province. Among them, 1 person died and 3 people were injured, damaging and flooding hundreds of houses.

Floods also caused severe damage to thousands of hectares of rice and crops; hundreds of hectares of aquaculture areas; many national highways, provincial roads, and construction works were eroded and cracked.
