Assessment and forecast
The weekend declines are raising concerns about the possibility of manipulating the cryptocurrency market, especially when traditional assets are still relatively stable.
Selling pressure accumulated over the weekend as expectations of a global macroeconomy changed. Although stocks and commodities still sent positive signals, cryptocurrency did not keep up. This "slide" between cryptocurrency and the US market is the reason why the suspicion of manipulation has not subsided.
Explaining the decline in the cryptocurrency market, many opinions are towards Japan. The Bank of Japan (BoJ) is expected to raise interest rates on December 19, with the possibility of further increases in 2026. The last time Japan tightened policy, the global market suffered a big shock due to the flight of Yen investment transactions. This history could ignite fear, even before a formal move is made.
As the US market opens, volatility increases sharply. Reason continues to liquidate, turning fear into momentum.
Gold has increased its capitalization by thousands of billions of USD this year, silver increased by 125% in 2025, and inflation cooled down. But Bitcoin ignored all "favorites". When there is no news, good news or bad news all lead to the same result, the accusations of manipulating the cryptocurrency market increase.
This model partly explains why cryptocurrency has declined despite a lot of positive information. US President Donald Trump recently mentioned the possibility of bringing interest rates to 1% or lower by 2026, while Fed official Goolsbee expects more interest rate cuts.
In Vietnam, Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies have not been recognized as a legal payment method and are not protected by law. Investors need to be cautious, avoiding risks from strong price fluctuations and fraud related to cryptocurrency.
