Assessment and forecast
Neutral currencies bring benefits to Blockchain - almost immediate payment at low costs without the strong volatility of normal cryptocurrencies.
However, creating blockchain versions of the USD or Euro also poses risks, especially the risk of a currency collapsing if it loses its anchor or does not hold enough reserve currency.
This year, policymakers have directly addressed some of these risks by building a clear legal framework for the issuance of neutral currencies, including regulations on reserve requirements.
Currently, retailers, banks, technology companies and payment service providers are all looking to integrate neutral cryptocurrency contracts into their operations. This trend is forecast to continue until 2026 and beyond.
Digital currency is changing. Consulting firm McKinsey estimates that neutral cryptocurrency transactions could surpass traditional transactions in less than 10 years. McKinsey predicts the market size will increase from about 250 billion USD today to 2,000 billion USD by 2028.
cryptocurrency investors could head the trend by holding smart contract platform currencies such as Ethereum (ETH) and Solana (SOL). If netizens are issued on public Blockchain platforms rather than private systems, the two networks are currently leading.
There were expectations that lawmakers would achieve a clear legal framework for cryptocurrencies in 2025, but that has not happened. However, it is likely that legal transparency will come in 2026.
In Vietnam, Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies have not been recognized as a legal payment method and are not protected by law. Investors need to be cautious, avoiding risks from strong price fluctuations and fraud related to cryptocurrency.
