In recent trading sessions, the gold market has shown a fairly clear recovery momentum. On August 9, SJC gold bar prices at some units increased sharply to the area of 141-144 million VND/tael. By August 11, gold prices continued to rise, SJC gold bars at Phu Quy and DOJI were both listed at 142.5-145.5 million VND/tael (buying - selling).
However, if the calculation period is extended to one month, the picture for gold buyers will be completely different. Those who deposited money on July 11 are still suffering heavy losses.
On July 11, Phu Quy listed SJC gold bars at 146.3-149.9 million VND/tael. By August 11, the price decreased to 142.5-145.5 million VND/tael.
Thus, after a month, the buying price of SJC gold bars at Phu Quy decreased by 3.8 million VND/tael, and the selling price decreased by 4.4 million VND/tael.
At DOJI, SJC gold bars on July 11 were listed at 146.9-149.9 million VND/tael. By August 11, the price also returned to 142.5-145.5 million VND/tael.
Compared to a month ago, the buying and selling prices at DOJI both decreased by 4.4 million VND/tael.
Notably, the selling price of gold bars at both Phu Quy and DOJI on July 11 was at 149.9 million VND/tael. If people bought one tael of gold at that time and resold it on August 11, businesses would only buy it at 142.5 million VND/tael.
Thus, buyers are losing 7.4 million VND/tael, equivalent to nearly 5% of the money spent after only one month.

With 9999 gold rings, the loss is also not small.
On July 11, Phu Quy listed gold rings at 145.3-148.8 million VND/tael. By August 11, the price was still 142.5-145.5 million VND/tael.
After a month, the buying price decreased by 2.8 million VND/tael and the selling price decreased by 3.3 million VND/tael. Gold ring buyers on July 11 with a price of 148.8 million VND/tael, if resold on August 11 with a price of 142.5 million VND/tael, a loss of 6.3 million VND/tael.
At DOJI, gold rings on July 11 were priced at 145-149 million VND/tael, while on August 11 they were listed at 142-145.8 million VND/tael.
The buying price accordingly decreased by 3 million VND/tael, and the selling price decreased by 3.2 million VND/tael. Buyers with a price of 149 million VND/tael a month ago, if selling at the current price of 142 million VND/tael, would lose 7 million VND/tael.
Investor losses currently come from a sharp decrease in the month, combined with the buying-selling spread being listed too high by business units.
On August 11, the buying - selling difference of SJC gold bars at Phu Quy and DOJI was 3 million VND/tael. Phu Quy gold rings also differed by 3 million VND/tael, while DOJI reached 3.8 million VND/tael. If the buying - selling difference does not change, gold prices need to increase at least corresponding to this difference for buyers to break even.
In the context of gold prices continuously fluctuating with large amplitudes, people need to avoid the psychology of fear of missing opportunities (FOMO), chasing purchases when the market has just appeared a few strong increase sessions. Especially with short-term investment demand, the high buying-selling difference may cause losses to form as soon as the transaction is completed.
The profit and loss levels in the article are calculated based on the listed buying - selling prices of enterprises at two times July 11, 2026 and August 11, 2026, excluding other incurred costs (if any).
