One tael of gold differs by 3.4 million VND in interest

Closing the session on July 25, 2026, Thang Long Dragon Gold plain round ring at Bao Tin Minh Chau was listed at 138.9-142.7 million VND/tael. SJC gold bars at this enterprise are priced at 137.5-141.5 million VND/tael.
To calculate the actual profit level, the price customers bought a year ago must be compared with the current price the business buys back.
Accordingly, buyers of one tael of Thang Long Dragon Gold on July 25, 2025 must pay 119.7 million VND. If resold at the purchase price at the end of July 25, 2026, which is 138.9 million VND/tael, the nominal profit reaches 19.2 million VND, equivalent to about 16%.
Meanwhile, people who bought a tael of SJC gold bars at a price of 121.7 million VND can now resell them for 137.5 million VND. The profit reached 15.8 million VND, equivalent to about 13%.
With the same volume and holding time of one year, Dragon Thang Long Gold buyers are making a higher profit than SJC gold bar buyers by about 3.4 million VND/tael.
With 5 taels of gold, the profit difference is about 1.7 million VND. If calculated on 10 taels, this figure is up to about 34 million VND.
Where does the difference come from?
The above results come from both the initial purchase price and the price the business buys back at the present time.
A year ago, the selling price of Thang Long Dragon Gold was about 2 million VND/tael lower than SJC gold bars. However, by the end of July 25, 2026, Bao Tin Minh Chau's price to buy back this product was about 1.4 million VND/tael higher than the buying price of SJC gold bars.
The above two factors created a profit difference of 3.4 million VND after one year.
The gap between buying and selling prices is also a factor that buyers need to pay attention to. Currently, the buying - selling difference of Thang Long Dragon Gold is at 3.8 million VND/tael, while SJC gold bars are 4 million VND/tael.
This means that new buyers may temporarily lose corresponding to the above difference immediately after the transaction if the market price does not change.
The comparison results only reflect two products listed by Bao Tin Minh Chau at two specific times. This is not a basis to affirm that gold rings always generate higher profits than gold bars in the entire market.
The actual amount of money customers receive when selling may also depend on the product condition, packaging, accompanying documents and repurchase policies of each business.
You should not just look at the selling price
Dr. Chau Dinh Linh - Lecturer at Ho Chi Minh City University of Banking - said that from a market perspective, businesses trading in gold, silver and gemstones must have profits from the difference between buying and selling prices.
He said that gold rings have high liquidity, while buyers often pay attention to gold index and gold purity when making transactions.
Recommendation for investors: When evaluating the effectiveness of holding gold, buyers should not only monitor the listed selling price. The number that determines the profit or loss is the price at which the business agrees to buy back the product.
Gold accumulation buyers should not choose products just because that product has brought higher profits in the past year. Before trading, it is necessary to compare both the selling price, the buying price and the difference between the two directions at the same business.
Buyers should prioritize products with clear exchange policies, keep the packaging and invoices unchanged, and use idle money and divide the purchase time if the market fluctuates strongly. The return in the past does not guarantee that similar results will continue to be repeated.
