On the evening of July 26, the television bridge commemorating the 79th anniversary of War Invalids and Martyrs' Day "Sao Sang Guidanh Duong" connected 4 bridge points at Bac Son Monument (Hanoi), Thanh Thuy Commune Memorial Stele (Tuyen Quang), Le Thi Rieng Park (Ho Chi Minh City) and National Road 9 Martyrs' Cemetery (Quang Tri).
Inspired by the poem "Nui Doi" by poet Vu Cao, the television bridge "Sao Sang Guidanh Duong" depicts the journey of implementing "Operation 500 Days and Nights to promote the search, collection and identification of martyrs' remains" - a command from the heart to bring thousands of martyrs still lying on the battlefield back to their families.
At the bridge point of Road 9 National Martyrs' Cemetery (Quang Tri province), the atmosphere seemed to stop when the story about the journey to find the identity of an anonymous grave at Cam Lo Martyrs' Cemetery (Cam Lo commune, Quang Tri province) began.
At the end of 2025, veteran Mau brought to the Department of Home Affairs of Quang Tri province a photo of the artifact of a martyr's remains exhumed in 2020 in Cam Thanh commune (old Cam Lo district). The remains were then in a rotten wooden coffin, next to it was a broken penicillin vial and a piece of oxidized corrugated iron with the faintly engraved words "Van Ninh, Quang Ninh, Quang Binh". Mr. Mau assessed that this could be comrade Hoang Trong Huynh (belonging to C7, D8, E66, Division 304), who bravely fought and sacrificed at peak 826 on June 15, 1971.
From the "key" being an oxidized sheet of corrugated iron, the Department of Home Affairs of Quang Tri province has coordinated with the Criminal Technical Department of the Provincial Police to successfully restore the blurred lines: "Martyr", "Full name and surname Ho...", "Birth date...", "Enlistment...", "Sacrifice...", "Hometown Van Ninh commune - Quang Ninh district - Binh district".
Reviewing the dossiers of 137 martyrs in Van Ninh commune, functional forces cordoned off 15 Hoang family martyrs and by accurate elimination method, all data confirmed that the tomb belonged to martyr Hoang Trong Huynh.
However, the verification process once had to be stopped due to time conflicts: Cam Thanh Surgical Station (where the remains were found) was established after 1972, while martyr Huynh sacrificed in June 1971 when this area was still under enemy control. With dedication and rich experience, officials of the Department of Home Affairs came up with a breakthrough hypothesis: The martyr was temporarily buried by his comrades for the first time with a vial of penicillin at peak 826. After 1972, when Cam Thanh was liberated, his remains were repatriated for the second time into a wooden coffin and the information was carved on a piece of corrugated iron. However, the above data is not enough to confirm that the grave at Cam Lo Cemetery belongs to martyr Hoang Trong Huynh.
The above story made many viewers in the hall and on the small screen tear up. However, behind the emotion is the sadness and sorrow, when on July 27 this year, due to legal procedures and final appraisal, the relatives of martyr Hoang Trong Huynh have not yet been able to officially receive back the grave of their loved one.
The story of martyr Hoang Trong Huynh became a highlight, fully depicting the message of the "Sao Sang Guidanh Duong" television bridge: Even if time goes by, even if difficulties pile up, the journey to return the names to heroic martyrs will never stop.
