Mr. Dang Ngoc Son, born in 1998, is currently an IT systems employee at the IT Operations Center (VNPT Information Technology Company).
Mr. Son and his wife have a son born in 2023, who is behind in motor mentally/chromatic abnormality and is deaf-mute from birth and is being treated for hearing loss. Since giving birth, Mr. Son's wife has not gone to work and stayed home to take care of her children.
Mr. Son and his wife are currently renting a house in Ha Dong ward (Hanoi).
"My salary is about 10 million VND/month, provided that my wife is not working, my child is sick, I rent a house in the city... so life is very difficult," said Mr. Son.
In early 2025, Mr. Son's son had to undergo ear snail surgery. The surgery cost 600 million VND, the couple had to ask for support from both paternal and maternal families and ran around to borrow more money to have enough money for their son for surgery.
According to Mr. Son, in the future, treating his son will be very difficult and arduous.
My child continues to go to school, receiving 1:1 intervention combined with exercise to make her limbs firmer, and not fall back on her way as she is now. The child is maintaining physical therapy and daily listening. The child's monthly tuition costs nearly 10 million VND, each session costs from 250,000-300,000 VND. My salary is enough to treat my illness. We have to ask both families to borrow to maintain our lives, said Mr. Son.
After maintaining treatment for their child, Mr. Son and his wife also have to closely follow the ear canal adjustment schedule; observe their child's hearing ability because their nerves are thin, some days they can hear and some days they can't...
Despite all the hardships, Mr. Son is not discouraged because in addition to the support of family and friends, he also receives the sharing of the company's union and the Vietnam Science and Technology Trade Union.
"In Workers' Month 2025, I received money and gifts from the industry union to give to workers in difficult circumstances. I am very touched and grateful for the attention of the industry union to the workers...", Mr. Son said emotionally.
Talking to reporters, a representative of the Vietnam Science and Technology Trade Union said that union member Dang Ngoc Son is in difficult circumstances, his child is seriously ill and has been treated for many years, and his wife has no job at home to take care of her children. Mr. Son's family is renting a house, he himself is the main pillar of the family.
"In the coming time, treating Mr. Son's child will be difficult, he will have to continue to be monitored and operated on... We hope that the benefactors will join hands to support Mr. Son's family to ease the difficulties in the long journey ahead...", the representative of the Vietnam Science and Technology Trade Union shared.
