The old wooden house on the mountain and the 8-year journey of dialysis
Ms. Trieu Thi Hang (38 years old), residing in Lung Ca hamlet, Thuong Cuong commune, Lang Son province, is currently being treated for hemodialysis at Chi Lang Regional Medical Center.
About 8 years ago, when she was just over 30 years old, Ms. Hang was diagnosed with kidney failure. Since then, to maintain her life, she has had to regularly go to the hospital for periodic dialysis.
Many years of fighting illness have made her body increasingly weakened. After each long dialysis, she is often tired and her health has clearly declined.
Ms. Hang's family currently lives in a small, dilapidated wooden house on a high mountain. The house was built many years ago, the wooden walls are rotten, with many gaps. On windy days, cold gusts of wind blow through the plank crevices, making the old house even more cold.
In that simple wooden house, the sick mother, her husband and two children still rely on each other to overcome a life of many deprivations.

Patient on dialysis for many years, very difficult circumstances
According to Dr. Vi Thi Khanh Van, Head of Emergency - Intensive Care and Poison Control Department, Chi Lang Regional Medical Center, Ms. Hang is a patient with particularly difficult circumstances in the department.
The patient has been on periodic dialysis for about 8 years now. After a long period of treatment, her health has declined significantly, so she can hardly work. Health insurance covers the dialysis part, but many costs of medicine and nutrition to maintain health are very difficult for the family to cover," shared Dr. Van.

According to the doctor, Ms. Hang's family circumstances currently depend almost entirely on her husband's income.
Previously, Ms. Hang and her husband mainly lived by farming. But since she fell ill, her health has become increasingly depleted, almost unable to work.
On days when she is healthier, she can only stay at home cooking rice for her children. The heavy work in her family she is no longer able to handle. "Now I am very weak, I can't do anything. Everything depends on my husband going to work as a hired laborer to earn money," Ms. Hang choked up.
Currently, her husband is the only laborer in the family. He works as a hired laborer in all kinds of jobs, doing whatever jobs he is hired to do to earn money to take care of his wife's dialysis and raise two children to study.
The couple has 2 children going to school, one child in 8th grade and the older child in 12th grade. Living and studying expenses along with medicine money make the family's life always in a state of shortage.
In the early years when Ms. Hang first got sick, relatives on both sides helped somewhat. But the illness lasted for many years, everyone's economy was difficult, so support gradually thinned out. Looking at her two children who were still of school age, Ms. Hang only hoped she was healthy enough to continue treatment and be with her children for a while longer.
What I am most worried about is that my children are still young. I just hope to live to see my children grow up," Ms. Hang said.
Amidst prolonged illness and a deprived life in an old wooden house on a high mountain, Ms. Hang's family really hopes to receive the care and help of organizations, individuals and kind hearts to have more conditions to continue treatment and raise their children to study.
