LD26084: Student with kidney failure dreams of becoming a doctor

NGUYÊN ANH |

An Giang - Little student Danh Thi Thanh Nhi wishes to recover from illness, and later become a doctor to treat and help people in difficult circumstances.

Danh Thi Thanh Nhi, an 8/1 grade student at Dong Thai Ethnic Minority Boarding Secondary School, was born and raised in a difficult family in hamlet 5, An Bien commune (An Giang). Nhi is the eldest child in a family of 2 sisters. Her father works as a mason, with meager income and unstable jobs, her mother sells vegetables at the market every day. Life was already difficult, and a medical incident made the 8th grade student have to struggle with fate.

According to the treatment records at Kien Giang Obstetrics and Pediatrics Hospital, Nhi suffers from kidney failure syndrome - a disease that requires long-term treatment. She was admitted to the Department of General Pediatrics in 2025. Currently, Nhi is still being treated according to the hospital's protocol, coming for examination and taking medicine once a week. Long-term treatment costs make the family increasingly exhausted.

Frequent pain and fatigue make Nhi's health decline. However, what makes teachers and friends admire is that she has never given up studying. In class, Nhi is still an exemplary student, always trying to complete her studies and help her friends.

In the small dormitory room of Dong Thai Ethnic Minority Boarding Secondary School, the little girl shared about her illness with a strong but also full of worries look: "When I have a lot of pain, I am very tired, very weak. Sometimes I have to take a few days off school to go for examination. But I still try to study because I don't want to fail in my studies.

Perhaps it was the times facing illness and difficulties that nurtured a special dream in the class monitor. "I dream of becoming a doctor to treat people, especially those in difficult circumstances like me, and take care of my family," Nhi shared.

At the boarding school, where many ethnic minority students are striving to overcome difficulties in studying, Nhi is one of the typical examples of will and determination. According to Ms. Ly Thi Men - Deputy Head of the Student Management Team of Dong Thai Ethnic Minority Boarding Secondary School, although her health is not good, Nhi still always maintains a very precious study spirit.

The child's father works as a mason, earning money to treat the child's illness, so the family is very difficult. The school also supports separate meals for the child as instructed by the doctor, to ensure health and avoid eating salty food. The school hopes to have philanthropists help so that Nhi has money for treatment and has the health to go to school.

Nhi's path ahead is certainly still full of difficulties. But with willpower and aspiration to rise up, little Danh Thi Thanh Nhi is still continuing to write her own story - a story about will, studiousness and belief in the future.

To continue writing about the future for the resilient girl, it is very necessary for golden hearts near and far to join hands and help.
