On March 15, voters nationwide will vote to elect National Assembly deputies (NA deputies) of the 16th term and People's Council deputies (HĐND) at all levels for the term 2026 - 2031.
According to the Ministry of Public Security's Electronic Information Portal, on this occasion, Major General Nguyen Quoc Toan - Chief of Office, Spokesperson of the Ministry of Public Security exchanged and informed some contents on the implementation of tasks to ensure a safe and secure environment, ensure good citizens' voting rights; effectively exploit the National Population Database and the VNeID application to serve elections.
In which, Major General Nguyen Quoc Toan shared information about new points in the exploitation and use of the National Population Database and VNeID in election work.
Implementing the Party's policy on promoting breakthroughs in science and technology development, innovation and national digital transformation in the spirit of the Resolution of the 14th Party Congress, the Central Public Security Party Committee and the Ministry of Public Security have continued to promote the exemplary spirit of taking the lead in applying science and technology, digital transformation to serve the election of National Assembly deputies and People's Council deputies at all levels in this term.
One of the very noteworthy new points in the election service work this time is the promotion of the application of information technology, digital data, especially the effective exploitation of the National Population Database and the VNeID application, contributing to improving convenience, transparency and proactive participation of people.
Implementing the assignment of the National Election Council, right from October 2025, the Ministry of Public Security issued Instructions on exploiting and using the National Population Database and applying VNeID in compiling voter lists and printing voter cards to serve elections. At the same time, deploying voter management software built from the official data source of the National Population Database.
The Chief of the Ministry of Public Security Office said that through this system, the Public Security force proactively coordinates with levels and sectors in reviewing, comparing, supplementing, and adjusting voter lists in a scientific and synchronous manner, minimizing errors such as duplication, lack of information, or omission of eligible voters participating in the election. Voter data is updated regularly on the population data platform "correct, complete, clean, live", thereby improving management efficiency and ensuring transparency in election preparation work.
The Ministry of Public Security also deployed the function on VNeID for people to monitor their voting area information and the list of candidates for National Assembly deputies and People's Council deputies at all levels; implement the request to change the voting place between permanent residence and temporary residence; issue Certificates for voters to participate in voting elsewhere (electronic version).
According to Major General Nguyen Quoc Toan, these are breakthrough software and features that help local police conveniently make voter lists, and voters nationwide can easily follow election information without having to return to their place of residence.
The application of population data and VNeID in election work not only improves the efficiency of state management, but is also an important step forward in the national digital transformation process, better serving the people's right to mastery.
