Students affected by storms and floods, get tuition reduction

Office of Legal Consulting Lao Dong Newspaper replied:

Article 16 of Decree 81/2021/ND-CP stipulates the subjects eligible for tuition fee reduction and tuition fee support as follows:

1. Subjects eligible for 70% tuition reduction include:

a) Students studying traditional and special arts in vocational education institutions, public and private universities that provide training in culture and arts, including: Traditional opera musicians, Hue traditional musicians, Southern amateur music, opera actors, folk performing arts, ca tru art, bai choi art, traditional musical instrument performance;

b) Students majoring in royal court music, opera, classical drama, reformed opera, dance, circus; some arduous, toxic, and dangerous occupations for vocational education according to the list of arduous, toxic, and dangerous occupations prescribed by the Ministry of Labor, War invalids and Social Affairs;

c) Preschool children and students who are ethnic minorities (other than very small ethnic minorities) in extremely disadvantaged villages/hamlets, communes in ethnic minority and mountainous areas, and extremely disadvantaged communes in coastal and island areas according to regulations of competent authorities.

2. Subjects eligible for a 50% tuition reduction include:

a) Preschool children and students who are children of officials, civil servants, public employees, or workers whose father or mother has a work-related accident or occupational disease are entitled to regular allowances;

Thus, only students in the above categories in areas affected by storms and floods will be entitled to tuition reductions according to the law. However, universities and colleges may also have regulations on tuition reductions for students whose families are in areas affected by storms and floods.
