433 million USD and telling numbers make up BTS's strength

Revenue of 433.2 million USD and 2.3 million tickets from 38 shows not only reflects the appeal of BTS after a period of group closure, but also shows their position.

According to Billboard Boxscore data, as of August 11, "BTS World Tour 'Arirang'" grossed $433.2 million after 38 shows, with about 2.3 million tickets sold.

From these data, on average, each performance night of BTS brings in about 11.4 million USD, with more than 60,500 spectators. Average revenue per ticket is about 188 USD.

It should be noted that 433.2 million USD is box office revenue, not profit or the amount the 7 BTS members actually received. The tour also has to pay for many expenses such as location rental, stage design and operation, personnel, transportation, promotion...

However, the average revenue of more than 11 million USD per show shows BTS's ability to exploit large-scale stadiums.

No longer a separate competition in Kpop

Another notable event is the July revenue. "BTS World Tour'Arirang'" earned $102.5 million in the month, ranking second on Billboard's Top Tours chart, after The Weeknd with $124.4 million.

Billboard also recorded BTS becoming the third artist, after Beyoncé and Bad Bunny, to repeatedly exceed the 100 million USD tour revenue mark in a month.

This detail shows that the measure suitable for BTS today is no longer limited to the scope of Kpop groups.

When an artist can sell an average of more than 60,000 tickets per night and generate hundreds of millions of USD in revenue, their competitors in the tour market are artists who are capable of running stadium tours globally.

Paris is an example. The performances here attracted about 185,000 spectators and brought in 30.6 million USD in ticket revenue.

Break does not lose purchasing power

433.2 million USD is also noteworthy because BTS has just gone through a long period of not touring the world with all 7 members.

During the time the members successively performed military service, group activities were interrupted and each person focused on personal projects. For an idol group, a long break always comes with questions about the ability to maintain fan base and purchasing power when returning.

Current ticket sales data partly gives an answer. About 2.3 million tickets after 38 shows show that the interest in BTS is not only shown through views, followers or interaction on social networks but has turned into direct purchasing power on a large scale.

This is especially important for the current music industry, when touring and accompanying activities have become one of the important sources of revenue for artists.

From a business perspective, BTS also has an advantage from a global fan community built over many years. A tour, therefore, not only generates revenue from tickets but also leads to demand for souvenirs and many related commercial activities.

The figure of 433.2 million USD is not yet the final result of the entire tour. Because ticket prices, stadium capacity and number of shows vary in each market, it is not possible to take the current average to accurately predict the final revenue.
