The Vietnam Association of Photographic Artists was established on December 8, 1965, in Hanoi, formerly the Vietnam Football and Photo taken National Enterprise. At the most fierce time of the resistance war against the US to save the country, the birth of the Association was not only the formation of a professional organization, but the gathering of a special army on the cultural and ideological front.
After the national reunification day, the revolutionary photography forces of the two regions have promoted the achievements, towards national unity, gathering teams, widely united photography brothers and sisters in all regions, especially the newly liberated regions with the desire to work together and create photos, building a stronger development of the photography movement.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Ms. Pham Thi My Hoa said: " Entering the new stage, along with the development of the country and international integration, photographers have more opportunities and conditions to carry out their passion. There are more artistic playgrounds, the masses love photography more, on a larger scale and with higher professionalism.
The consistent creative orientation, photography must honestly reflect the lives of the people in labor, in building and defending the Fatherland, in integrating internationally; must carry the breath of social life, contain profound human values, be responsible for the public, society and the country".

The event is a meeting place, gathering place for hundreds of artists and photographers across the country; a place for young artists and photographers to exchange and learn from the previous generation.
Here, the Vietnam Association of Photographic Artists presented the Commemorative Medal for the Development of Vietnamese photography Art to 9 individuals who are leaders of departments, branches and units; The title of Photographic Artist with outstanding contributions to 9 artists. One artist was awarded the title of Best Special Photographic Artist and 4 artists were awarded the title of Best Photography.

At the ceremony, the Vietnam Association of Photographic Artists also presented awards to the authors who won the Best photography Award in 2025. This is the highest award of the year of the Association, aiming to find works of photography, works of criticism of photography and photo books with good artistic quality and content. From there, select the best works to award Gold, Silver, and Bronze Medals of the year.
This year, the Vietnam Association of Photographic Artists received 273 works from 179 authors submitted to the consideration of the 2025 Best Photography Award. The works submitted include single photos, photo sets, photo books and photography criticism works. Of which, there are 20 best photo works that won awards: 2 Gold Medals, 4 Silver Medals, 14 Bronze Medals.

Previously, on the morning of December 5, the Vietnam Association of Photographic Artists also held an award ceremony and opened the 13th International Art photography Competition 2025 in Vietnam (VN-25).

As a result, the Council selected 664 outstanding works by 383 authors from 22 countries and territories for the exhibition round, and awarded 47 prizes according to the award system of VAPA and FIAP. Most notably, author Marcel Van Balken (Netherlands) won the FIAP Green award ( Blue ribbon), and was also the winner of the most awards with 10 award-winning works on display.
