In the 5th award ceremony, VinFuture 2025 continues to carry the spirit of "S accompanying each other - together prosperity", the consistent message since the award was established in 2020. In the context of the world facing many challenges - from climate change, conflict, epidemic to digital transformation - that message has become an invitation to cooperation, knowledge sharing, and finding solutions to common problems of humanity.
Rearing stature from prestige
After only half a decade, VinFuture has become one of the most influential scientific awards in the world. This year's tournament recorded more than 1,700 entries from more than 70 countries and territories, nearly 3 times more than the first season. That number reflects the growing prestige of an award that is commented by scientists as "young but not small" = young in age but large in scale, value and vision.
Notably, among the scientists who were honored at VinFuture, there were 4 groups that continued to be named at the Nobel Prize in the following years. This shows that VinFuture is not only a prestigious scientific playground, but is also recognized as the "discovering" of Nobel-level works - a testament to the accuracy in selection and evaluation of the Prize Council.
Prof. Dang Van Chi - member of the Award Council - shared: "We have chosen the right person. If they win VinFuture, scientists are more likely to be honored at the Nobel Prize.
Award of Humanitarian Aspiration
The VinFuture Main Prize worth 3 million USD and three Special Prizes (each worth 500,000 USD) are for: Female scientists, scientists from developing countries and researchers in new fields. This is a deeply humane award structure: paying attention to scientific groups with many contributions but often not being recognized as worthy.
This year, a member of the Prize Council revealed: The winning work is a research that has an impact on a huge population scale globally = showing that VinFuture continues to be loyal to the highest criterion: Science must serve humanity, must solve practical problems of life, not stop at academia.
In addition to the appearance of science stars, this year's awards ceremony also featured the participation of Alicia Keys, a female artist who won the Grammy award 17 times. The combination of contemporary music and the spirit of knowledge shows VinFuture's creative way of bringing science closer to the public.
Science Week: Hanoi becomes "intellectual capital"
Not only an awards ceremony, VinFuture is increasingly shaping itself as the biggest science and technology week of the year in Vietnam.
The programs gather leading scientists in AI, medicine, agriculture, environmental technology, new technology... The stories, perspectives and future predictions shared here not only expand knowledge but also inspire thinking about the development direction of humanity in the coming decade.
From a Vietnamese perspective, VinFuture Week strongly inspires the younger generation. Young students and researchers are able to listen directly to Nobel-level scientists, access breakthrough works, and most importantly - see their own path in science.
Yesterday afternoon, December 4, the Scientific and Innovation seminar for a Sustainable Future was held with the participation of Professor. Nguyen Thuc Quyen of the University of California, Santa Barbara (USA) = Chairman of the VinFuture Preliminary Council as chairman. Speakers include Dr. Filippo Giorgi - Abdus Salam International Theoretical Physics Center (Italy), Member of the Preliminary Council of the VinFuture Prize; Professor. Martin Andrew Green - University of New South Wales (Australia) and many other speakers. The seminar focused on discussing the issue of Science and technology opening a new direction - from green materials, clean energy, circular economy to carbon storage and ecosystem recovery - to create a harmonious development model between growth and conservation. In addition, it will introduce research, technology and policy advances - from emission reduction, efficient resource management to renewable energy development, while connecting scientists, experts and policymakers, promoting cooperation, creating a green and sustainable future for the planet.
