According to Korean media, BTS's "MIC drop (Steve Aoki Remix)" music video has surpassed 1.5 billion views on YouTube, becoming the group's 4th music video to achieve this achievement after "Boy With Luv", "Dynamite" and "DNA".
BTS released the music video for "MIC drop (Steve Aoki Remix)" at 6:00 p.m. on November 24, 2017 (Korean time), meaning it took the song 7 years, 5 months and 28 days to reach this milestone.
Currently, some members of BTS have completed their military service. Some others will be discharged in 2025. CEO Lee Jae Sang - CEO of HYBE Labels (BTS's management unit) revealed about BTS's artistic activities after the 7 members were discharged from the military that the members needed a lot of time to prepare.
Lee Jae Sang said, "The company is taking necessary preparations and negotiating with leading music producers. But this issue also requires consideration from the members' perspective.
Usually, artists will work on an album, release that album before starting a tour. However, BTS are the artists with the top position globally and this position requires a careful assessment of the group's vision of what's next'".
HYBE Labels CFO Lee Kyung Joon also said, "We are still in the process of discussing the group's promotional plan for 2026. Therefore, we do not have any predictions made at this time."
Many netizens understand that the above comments mean that there is currently no plan for BTS to continue promoting the group in 2025, even though the members will be discharged from the military this year.
Online rumors say that with only about 1 to 2 years left until the expiration date of BTS' exclusive contract, the group's continued activities in 2026 will also depend on the members' decision to extend.
