Recently, in an interview on the topic "Introduction to drama" about the movie "Axis of Jade", Truong Lang Hach shared about his personal development journey and feelings when the audience paid more attention to his appearance than acting.
The actor expressed that the audience often only cares about whether he is handsome or not, but sometimes forgets about his ability to express emotions and acting.
When the MC asked about whether his beauty brought him confidence, Truong Lang Hach replied: "Yes! My confidence can be divided into two parts. The first part is when attending activities, parties or brand events, people praise me for being handsome, that is recognition that helps me feel confident to continue appearing next time. When I feel my condition is good, looking outside will also be different".
The second part is that when participating in movies, beauty is both beneficial and harmful. The benefit is that I am exposed to many idol and romance movies and was chosen due to my appearance advantage. But it is also harmful, because when audiences watch movies, they pay too much attention to questions like'Is Truong Lang Hach handsome?','Is he still as handsome as before?','Is he no longer handsome because he doesn't act well, right?'... These things make my acting ability and the way I express emotions ignored.
Truong Lang Hach said he is trying to get rid of the thought of "whether the actor is handsome or not, whether the camera angle is beautiful or not", instead focusing on the character and emotions. He said: "All external factors I assign to the director, and I myself only focus on getting into the role and expressing emotions as best as possible.

The MC continued to ask: "Do you feel that people only look at your beauty and ignore your acting and talent?
Truong Lang Hach replied: "I don't judge that. For example, Leonardo DiCaprio - he used to be very handsome but never won an Oscar. Later, he overcame the barrier of appearance and was recognized for his role in "The Revenant". This is a reality: appearance can make people ignore emotional expressions, but all I can do is remove external elements from my mind, focus on doing my job well to become a good actor.
Previously, in the program "Hello Saturday", Truong Lang Hach and co-star Dien Hy Vi were asked to redraw their respective images. When receiving the painting made by Dien Hy Vi, Truong Lang Hach shared his feeling: "Who does this look like? I feel like I was born in Southeast Asia".
With Truong Lang Hach's expression, the audience thought he was expressing dissatisfaction because the painting was not the same as his. However, the comment "born in Southeast Asia" caused controversy, and some people said it implied a negative comparison of appearance. Before the criticism from the community, the actor later apologized for his statement.
