Obtaining views by cursing and the price to pay, not just Khanh Sky alone

Khanh Sky confessed: "The more views you see, the more viewers you have, the more you scold", showing the downside of the interaction race on social networks.

On August 7, Bac Ninh Provincial Police prosecuted Nguyen Van Hoi (Khanh Sky) to investigate the crimes of "Disturbing public order" and "Abusing democratic freedoms to infringe upon the interests of the State, the legitimate rights and interests of organizations and individuals".

Nguyen Van Hoi's testimony (Khanh Sky) evokes a worrying phenomenon on social networks today, cursing to get views and likes.

Behind many noisy incidents in cyberspace recently is the same formula, cursing to have interaction, attacking to have viewers, spreading shocking news to have followers.

When views are converted into money, fame or influence, some people are willing to turn social networks into places of aggression, slander and incitement.

Recent social media scandals show a reality that many people are using social media not to share information or connect with the community, but as a tool to profit from curiosity, arguments and conflicts.

What is worrying is that many subjects choose the "formula" to increase views and followers to easily attract attention: The more shocking, the more famous, the more extreme, the more viewers, the more personal attacks, the easier it is to spread.

Behind the fabricated information on the internet are real people who are being hurt. Many people lose credibility, lose jobs, lose business opportunities because of false information.

Many businesses are seriously affected in terms of brand, revenue has decreased due to false rumors.

There are families who have to live under pressure and mental crisis just because they become targets of social media attacks.

More notably, many people participate in sharing, commenting, and attacking others without knowing whether that information is true or false.

Just one unverified post attracting a crowd, immediately "online court sessions" appear with thousands, even tens of thousands of people participating in judging.

Meanwhile, the truth is left behind.

Citizens have the right to freedom of speech, but that freedom does not mean the right to insult others, the right to fabricate information or the right to stand above the law.

If everyone can arbitrarily curse, slander, and spread false information to earn views, social networks will become a place to spread harmful content instead of spreading positive values.

The online environment cannot develop healthily if many people try every way to become famous and make money, regardless of the pain, honor and prestige of others.

Therefore, the prosecution of violations is to affirm that cyberspace is not an illegal land.

Virtual views and likes, but the prison room is real.
