In 2010, director Zhang Yimou chose Dou Qiao from thousands of candidates when he was still studying abroad in Canada, to play Jian Xin with a clear smile in the movie "The Story of the Apple Tree". Right from his debut work, he was nominated for the Hua Biao Award, a start that many people called "too perfect".
But Dou Qiao never wanted to be a "Mưu nam lang" who only has appearance.
When participating in "Phá phong", he was exposed to the sun until dark, losing weight to the point of being visibly thin. In "Sở Kiều truyện", he fully portrays Yến Tuân's journey of transformation from a bright teenager to a cold and cruel person.
