At the special audience meeting of the movie "Detective Kien: Ky xin khong dau", the identity of the ghost character - a supernatural force that haunts the audience throughout the movie - was revealed.
The person who took on this role was Tran Ngoc Tu - an athlete of the Vovinam Ho Chi Minh City team - with an impressive height of 2.2 m and a weight of nearly 120 kg.
Tran Ngoc Tu is not only the tallest athlete in Vietnam today, but also the second tallest person in the country, after Mr. Ho Van Trung (35 years old, Ca Mau) with a record height of 2.55 m.
He has achieved many outstanding achievements, including the Gold Medal of the 2019 Vovinam National Championship, the Gold Medal of the 2021 Vovinam National Strong Teams Championship and the Gold Medal of the 2023 Vovinam National Strong Teams Championship.
Although a national champion, Tran Ngoc Tu could not participate in the 32nd SEA Games in Cambodia in 2023 because the weight class over 92 kg was not included in this event.
Tran Ngoc Tu brought a haunting and different ghost image - contributing to the mysterious color of the film.
Tran Ngoc Tu's appearance and cold, reserved demeanor have become the foundation for building a different ghost character - both supernatural and iconic.
Choosing a martial arts athlete for this role also shows the boldness in the staging of director Victor Vu.

Director Victor Vu affirmed his desire to design the ghost character of Detective Kien: Ky an Khong cap in the image of people who have passed away underwater, their bodies hanging up. Therefore, the ghost image in this film is somewhat different from previous films that have exploited this image.
Actor - producer Dinh Ngoc Diep recalled: "Every day, people playing ghost roles have to spend 6 hours "make up". silicone for decoration is also very expensive. It could cost hundreds of millions of money to produce each time you appear. Thanks to that, the horror segments also created a very real effect...".
To complete this look, the costume crew used special silicone to create the head and body, at a cost of up to 300-600 million VND. The appearance after disguise helps the character become deformed and unmissing, but still retains the necessary authenticity so that the audience does not feel "fake".
The ghost character was filmed for 4 days in mountainous terrain, where the climate was harsh and the terrain was harsh. However, due to the film's pace and moderate air restraint, many scenes featuring this character were cut by director Victor Vu in the final filming.
Actress Minh Anh - who has interacted with ghosts for a while - also shared that Tran Ngoc Tu was very lucky to have to wear clothes for such a long time.
"The set also has a relatively low ceiling, which makes him breathe a sigh of relief. Every time I finish a scene, seeing how Mr. Tu steps out of the room quickly makes me feel very sorry. But I really like him because he is gentle, kind and always gives his all for the role," the 17-year-old actress confided about her filming journey with "ghost skin".
