In 2023, Vietnamese films were in a state of alarm when more than 30 films were sluggish and at a loss. In particular, many works "hit rock bottom" when released in theaters only earned a few tens of millions of VND, and had to be withdrawn early from theaters because no one watched them.
By 2024, in addition to Tran Thanh and Ly Hai, many producers had to "rescue" their unfinished cries due to losses such as Mai Thu Huyen and Xuan Lan.
Therefore, the first 4 months of 2025 - considered an unprecedented period for Vietnamese cinema when consecutive films released in theaters all won big. If just a few years ago, a Vietnamese film project reached the revenue target of 100 billion VND, it would be a big victory. Every year, "counting on the fingers" the films worth hundreds of billions, in 2025 - far beyond the imagination of the film industry, in just over 4 months, there have been 4 film projects reaching the target of 200 billion VND, one film over 300 billion VND, many films over 100 billion VND.
Both released in theaters during the holiday of September 30 and May 1, both Flip Side 8 and Detective Kien exceeded 200 billion VND in revenue. This is an ancient record that rarely 2 Vietnamese films at the same time have this number.
Previously, "The Billion Dollar Kiss" by Thu Trang, despite the clash with "The Four Guardians" by Tran Thanh at the Tet theater, also reached 211 billion VND, Tran Thanh's film reached 332 billion VND. Right after these two films left theaters, Huynh Lap's "House of Ancestors", despite being criticized for being sketchy, still had a revenue of 242 billion VND.

Tunnel: Sun in the dark - a war film directed by Bui Thac Chuyen has so far earned 171 billion VND. This is a work with a record high revenue by Bui Thac Chuyen. Previous films by director Bui Thac Chuyen have always been classified as author films and art films that are picky about audiences. The Geography is also the most expensive work, the most invested in Bui Thac Chuyens directing career.
The Vietnamese film market in early 2025 is also considered a "game of equal hands" when a series of films released by brand new directors quickly reached the hundred billion revenue mark. These include The Heart Light - directed by Hoang Nam earning 105 billion VND, The Devil Entering the Dress - directed by Pom Nguyen earning nearly 150 billion VND.
Many film projects are continuing to be published, showing that the Vietnamese film market in 2025 is vibrant and competitive like never before.

Not only private film projects, many state-owned film studios such as the People's Police Cinema and the People's Army Cinema also took part, creating a new and attractive color for Vietnamese films in 2025.
In particular, the People's Army Cinema is expected to release the blockbuster war film "Red Rain" about the battle of Quang Tri ancient citadel in 1972, the film with a large investment budget - will be released in theaters in mid-August.
The People's Public Security cinema has just "teased" the film project "death in the air" inspired by a real plane robbery that occurred in Vietnam after 1975.
Death in the Air is a collaboration project between the People's Public Security Cinema and a private film studio, the film has the participation of million-dollar actors such as Thai Hoa and Kaity Nguyen. This is also a "recently rare" story.
When state-owned film studios combine with private film studios with unique scripts and film materials with industry characteristics, it promises to be a new and attractive "strange wind" for the audience.
