The film attracted attention when it gathered Park Bo Gum, Joo Won, Jung Jae Young, Lee Sun Bin and BIBI.
Korean media previously reported that Tran Thanh would replace actor Cha Seung Won to play a role in this film. However, on January 15, when the film crew revealed the cast, his name was not on it. This caused audiences to speculate whether the Vietnamese male artist would withdraw from this project or not, or whether the film crew wanted to keep it secret to do media work.
The filming process of the movie "Sword: Legend of the Red Wolf" has officially started filming, marking the return of many big names on the big screen. The project quickly attracted public attention thanks to its historical - action theme and a cast that was highly appreciated for both acting and box office attraction.
In the movie, Park Bo Gum plays Chil Sung - a memory-deprived slave who does not know who he is and where he comes from. The character's life turns into a turning point when he participates in a life-and-death sword competition with the prize being a legendary sword. From being oppressed, Chil Sung embarks on a journey of struggle to regain freedom, and at the same time gradually rises to become a symbol of hope for the humble people in ancient society.
This is considered a role with a strong "transformation" of Park Bo Gum, when he leaves his familiar gentle image to transform into a tough warrior, with a long history of injuries both physically and mentally. Accompanying and confronting him is the character Gye Pil Ha Ryeok played by Joo Won - a skilled double swordsman, Chil Sung's most dangerous opponent in a life-and-death battle of wits and energy.
The supporting cast is also a noteworthy highlight of the project. Veteran actor Jung Jae Young plays Heuk Soo Kang - the teacher who guides Chil Sung on the path of swordsmanship, and also holds many important secrets related to the background of the main character. Lee Sun Bin appears as the mysterious female warrior Maya, while BIBI plays In Jeong, the daughter of Heuk Soo Kang, a character predicted to bring many levels of emotions.
The film is directed by director Kim Han Min - who made his mark with the historical action work "Warrior of arrows" (2011). With "Sword: Legend of the Red Wolf", director Kim Han Min aims to recreate the strength and spirit of Korean swordsmanship in the context of the Goguryeo kingdom, combining entertainment, eye-catching action and historical depth.
According to the plan from the producer, the film is expected to be released in theaters in the summer of 2027.
