On the 2nd day of Binh Ngo Tet 2026, with favorable weather, thousands of people flocked to Gieng Temple in the Hung Temple Relic Area (Phu Tho) to offer sacrifices, worship, and pray for peace at the beginning of the year.
Gieng Temple is one of the four main architectures of the Hung Temple relic site, standing out in the majestic natural space. The temple is famous for its sacred Ngoc Well, where people believe that water will bring peace and luck.
Gieng Temple includes an outdoor worship area, main hall for offerings, a worship area for the two princesses Tien Dung - Ngoc Hoa and Ngoc Well. In the Hau Cung of Gieng Temple, there is still a round water well. The well is nearly 2m deep, with very clear and cool water all year round. The well is stone-walled, the well ceiling is made of a continuous block of stone.
According to Lao Dong's records on February 18, the Gieng Temple area was almost crowded with tourists on the 2nd day of Tet.
Talking to Lao Dong Newspaper, Ms. Hoang Thi Ha (Phu Tho) said that in addition to offering offerings at Mau Temple and Hung Temple, her family also went to some surrounding temples.
Gieng Temple is famous for its sacredness with Ngoc Well, so I also want to visit, offer incense and pray for good luck at the beginning of the year," Ms. Ha said.
