On May 6, the Supreme People's Court rejected Mr. David Duffy's appeal, upholding the first-instance judgment, accordingly assigning actress Lan Phuong to directly raise the two children.
At the same time, the father is responsible for providing 40 million VND per month and has the right to visit his child according to legal regulations. After the trial, Lan Phuong said she felt relieved and happy with the ruling taking effect immediately.
The actress also affirmed that she always creates conditions for her ex-husband to meet his children, but will apply the principle of only meeting children in the common area, not allowed to enter the house.
Lan Phuong has gone through a long journey of nearly 1 year to win custody of both daughters. Previously, the two sides agreed to divorce from September 17, 2025.

According to the content of the first-instance judgment, actress Lan Phuong is assigned to directly raise two children, Mia (born in 2024) and Lina (born in 2018). The father is obliged to provide 40 million VND per month, starting from September 2025 until the children reach 18 years old or there is a decision to change the law.
At the appellate hearing, Mr. David Duffy requested custody of both children, arguing that Lan Phuong's economic conditions and living environment did not really ensure the best for the child's development.
Representatives of Mr. Duffy's side said that their current income is about 6,000 USD/month (equivalent to 160 million VND), enough to raise their children, and expressed their views on being restricted from visiting and taking care of their children after the first-instance judgment, as well as concerns about the privacy of the children.
On Lan Phuong's side, she provided documents proving her income of 7 billion VND/year, including owning 3 real estate properties (including 2 rented houses), private business activities and personal image exploitation in the arts.
The actress affirmed that she did not prevent her ex-husband and families from visiting her children. At the same time, her posting pictures of her children on social networks only stems from personal needs, not for business or commercial purposes.
According to Lan Phuong's sharing, the total cost of raising two children each year is about 1 billion VND, including tuition, living expenses and arising expenses such as transportation, entertainment and nanny.
In which, the tuition fees of the two children are 528 million VND and 320 million VND each year respectively, raising the total tuition fee to about 848 million VND/year. This figure makes many people surprised by the actress's large investment in her children's education and development.
