The activity of changing guards to open the Royal Palace opens the program "Magic Imperial Palace", taking place in the Ngo Mon area, Hue Citadel. The ritual recreates the changing shift activities of Nguyen Dynasty guards with formations, costumes and orders in the royal style, combined with a beautiful sound, lighting and effect system, recreating a solemn ritual.
The highlight of the program is the 3D mapping performance right at Trung Dao bridge (in Hue Citadel). The space is staged with torches, light mapping under the background to create a water flow and dragon flying effect.

Actors wearing ao dai holding lanterns move in formation, recreating the royal court scene at night. This is a visual performance activity combining traditional art and modern technology.

Taking place in the Thai Hoa Palace area, Hue Citadel - The Thiet Trieu ceremony is staged with the participation of a team of actors playing the roles of kings, mandarins, soldiers, performing court service rituals according to regulations, recreating the working and political living space of the ancient court.
This activity is one of the main highlights, helping visitors to better visualize the royal court rituals under the Nguyen Dynasty in the context of a performance combining modern light and sound.

Then there is a performance recreating the departure ceremony - military exercise of Nguyen Dynasty soldiers, with the participation of actors in military uniforms, combined with fire effects, sound and formation movements to depict the military atmosphere in the ancient royal palace.
A mãn nhãn performance attracting a large number of people and tourists to admire. Not only is it a reenactment of ancient rituals, the Send-off ceremony - soldier exercise brings a cultural space imbued with tradition.

In addition to the main activities, the Hoang Cung Huyen Tuong program also organizes diverse experiential activities such as technology experiences with the theme of royal seals (Ngoc ty), digital screen applications and interactions to introduce Nguyen Dynasty treasures, helping tourists learn history through visual and modern forms.
Or create a market right in the middle of the royal palace, where items and specialties imbued with the ancient Hue flavor are displayed, from ao dai, rural dishes or folk toys... all are in this market.

The combination of traditional elements and modern technology helps "Magic Imperial Palace" not only be a performance program, but also a new approach in telling heritage stories. Hue Citadel opens for free for people to participate in the program from April 25 to 28, 2026, starting at around 8 pm every night at Hue Citadel.
