The female singer confirmed that she will participate as a permanent member in MBC's new program called The Secret Friends Club, expected to air the first episode at 6:10 PM on February 1st.
This is the first time Jennie has taken on a fixed role in an entertainment program since tvN's Apartment 404, marking the two years she has been absent from reality TV. This return is considered a noteworthy step, showing that Jennie is expanding her artistic activities besides music.
The Secret Friends Club is produced by TEO - the production company of famous producer Kim Tae Ho. The program exploits the idea of giving anonymous gifts, where participants have to hide the identity of the recipient and face interesting "psychological games". Through personal challenges and group activities, the program aims to spread joy from simple but unexpected giving actions.
Previously, Jennie collaborated with Kim Tae Ho in the program My Name Is Gabriel of JTBC. In two episodes aired, the female singer experienced 72 hours of life of a woman of the same age named Maria, running a resort farm near Rome. This project not only received positive feedback but also contributed to building a strong cooperative relationship between Jennie and the production crew.
The cast of The Secret Friends Club includes five familiar faces of the Korean entertainment industry: Jennie, veteran UDT Dex, MMA fighter Choo Sung Hoon, MC Noh Hong Chul and comedian Lee Soo Ji. In the program, members will live normally until they receive mysterious invitations to enter "Secret Friends Club". From individual rounds inspired by "manitto" to large-scale group missions, the program promises to bring both laughter and emotional moments.
Jennie first participated in the entertainment program in 2018 with Village Survival, the Eight of SBS. Recently, she was also announced as a special guest of Transit Love 4, showing Jennie's stronger and more diverse return on television.
