At the program, Chairman of the Vietnam Publishing Association Pham Minh Tuan emphasized that in the country's development strategy, people and knowledge are always identified as the central factor, the key driving force for rapid and sustainable development.
Important Party resolutions such as the 14th National Congress Resolution, Resolution No. 57 on science and technology, Resolution No. 71 on education and training, Resolution No. 80 on cultural development, and Directive No. 04-CT/TW on publishing activities all focus on human resource development, promoting reading culture and creating conditions for the young generation to access comprehensive knowledge.
In that context, the project "1,000 libraries of knowledge for children" is being implemented as a specific solution to improve the opportunity to access knowledge for students, especially in difficult areas where access to books, newspapers and reading space is still limited.
According to the plan, the project will be implemented nationwide in the period 2026-2035, with the goal of building and donating 1,000 libraries in schools. Each library is designed according to a standard model, including from 500 - 1,000 books, newspapers, publications suitable for school age, along with learning support equipment such as computers, projection equipment and friendly reading spaces.
Not only stopping at donating facilities, the project aims to build a sustainable learning environment, where reading books becomes a habit, a need and a joy for students. This is also expected to be a foundation contributing to the comprehensive development of capacity and qualities for the young generation of Vietnam in the new period.
In parallel with the project announcement, the Organizing Committee launched the movement "Giving books - Opening the future" nationwide. The movement calls on team members, children, students, schools and organizations and individuals to contribute books, newspapers, stories and appropriate publications to supplement the libraries under the project.
The movement not only has the meaning of supplementing knowledge resources, but also contributes to educating the spirit of sharing and responsibility to the community in the young generation. Each donated book is not only a learning material, but also a connection, opening up the love of reading, nurturing dreams and creating more learning opportunities for students in difficult areas.
The Organizing Committee encourages each child and student to participate by contributing at least one suitable book. Schools, class groups, and teams can organize book donation campaigns in their units. The received publications must ensure healthy content, suitable for the age group, still intact and meeting educational criteria.
All donated books, newspapers, and publications will be received, classified, censored, and supplemented to the project's library system by the Organizing Committee according to the criteria, ensuring publicity, transparency, and effective use.
With a national scale, socialization mechanism and the joint effort of the community, the project "1,000 knowledge libraries for children" and the movement "Giving books - Opening the future" are expected to create practical and long-term values for education and society, contributing to building a solid knowledge foundation for the young generation of Vietnam.
At the program, writers and poets Vo Thi Xuan Ha, Nguyen Thuy Anh, Do Anh Vu, Bao Ngoc interacted with teachers and students of Van Chuong Elementary School (Van Mieu ward). Through the program, students learned more about the process of writing literature for children; and spread their love for books. In addition, students also donated books to the project "1,000 libraries of knowledge for children".
