"Flip Side 7" is considered a money-making flip side of Ly Hai. Previously, the series "Flip Side" often had action, horror themes, with thrilling, dramatic colors. With Flip Side 7, director Ly Hai made a breakthrough for the entire series when he switched to making films about his family. The story between a lonely old mother and 5 children brought Flip Side 7 a total revenue of 482 billion VND.
Flip Side 8 also takes the theme of family affection, revolving around generational conflicts, when Mr. Phuoc (Long Dep Trai) did not agree with his eldest son Tam (Doan The Vinh) to form a dance group and follow an artistic path. Mr. Phuoc wants Tam to review for the exam to enter the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering - University of Science and Technology.
Flip Side 8 tells a familiar story, exploiting old topics and handling them, it also follows a worn path, always letting children blame their parents on the journey to realize their dreams.
In this part, "Lat mat" depicts a relatively cumbersome character system, causing many construction characters to not appear, some characters appear redundant and unreasonable. A typical example is the role of a mother played by Thuy Anh.
Thuy Anh plays Lan - Nhan's (Quach Ngoc Tuyen) wife. Lan works at a beer house, is tempted - has neglected her husband and children to follow another man. However, just because she accidentally saw her daughter performing with a dance group on TV, Lan suddenly... returned, no longer having an affair.
The psychology of the character Lan is constructed superficially and unreasonably. If this role is cut from the script, it will not affect the plot line.
The role of mother of actor Minh Khue is also lackluster and lacks details to help the story become a highlight in the script.
Flip Side 8 has the participation of most of the cast from Flip Side 7, creating a feeling of lack of novelty in acting.

At the end of the film, the script was much weaker. The dance group has many members, each member has his own family, circumstances, and hard-working, hard-working fathers and mothers, but in the end, they still support their children's dreams.
However, when a member of the dance group forgot his performance outfit - Mr. Phuoc was traveling with the group to the city - he was forced to return home to pick it up. The audience asked, so where are the other fathers and mothers? They are all in the countryside, and it is easy to bring things to the city, or send outfits in many ways.
The detail of returning home to get actors for his children caused Mr. Phuoc to go through a series of challenges and difficulties to the point of... passing away, which is a weakness of "Flip Side 8". The script of Flip Side 8 has dramatized and tragasized a simple, easy-to-resolve detail.
Moreover, this psychological shock also creates a huge gap in the emotional developments of the characters, but Ly Hai handles it somewhat quickly. The shock of losing a father can make children depressed, even a person like Tam still struggles, feeling guilty about his father... not easily going to school as "Flip Side 8" ended.
The biggest plus point of Flip Side 8 comes from the natural, pure acting of the young cast. Flip Side 8 also has details that capture the emotions of the audience because of the theme of family that is easy to touch and easy to sympathize with.
However, Ly Hai needs to overcome safety to have a new approach to the topic as well as a new way of storytelling in the following films.
As of May 5, Ly Hai's "Flip Side 8" has reached 151 billion VND in revenue, surpassing its rival "Detective Kien" by 132 billion VND.
