Da Nang International Fireworks Festival (DIFF 2026) officially opens, opening a series of 6 fireworks nights lasting until July 11, bringing a vibrant summer atmosphere to people and tourists in the coastal city.
Speaking at the opening of the event, Mr. Nguyen Manh Hung - Chairman of Da Nang City People's Committee - emphasized: "DIFF 2026 with the theme "Da Nang - Connecting Horizons" is an expression of the city's desire for a dynamic image, a place to connect culture, tourism, creativity and international cooperation.
City government leaders also expressed pride that the festival was voted by the prestigious travel magazine Travel + Leisure as one of the 9 summer festivals worth experiencing on the planet. This is recognition from the international community for the attractiveness, scale and artistry of an event bearing the Vietnamese brand.
Exploiting the theme "Nature", the host Da Nang team (Vietnam) and the Jiangxi Yangfeng Art Fireworks Display team (China) brought two different stories through light and music.
The Da Nang team opened with a performance called "Nature of Heritage". The home team recreated the beauty of Vietnamese nature from fertile lands to the message of protecting green space. The combination of cheo rhythm, coastal chants and continuous fireworks created a space of sound and vision imbued with local identity. This year's fireworks display technique of the home team was assessed by viewers as having a clear improvement in terms of plot and large-scale effects.
Meanwhile, the defending champion from China affirmed their position with a performance called "Flower of the Orient" (Flower of the Orient). The opponent team took advantage of the smokeless fireworks technology and soft lighting effects to recreate the work "Jasmine Flower". The unexpected highlight of the Chinese team was the inclusion of the melody of the song "Vietnam Essence" in the shot, creating a great resonance and receiving continuous applause from the audience in the stands.
On this occasion, the Organizing Committee also introduced artificial intelligence (AI) technology to serve tourists through the Sun Paradise Land application. Viewers can personally create nostalgic style stamps or design electronic postcards with personal messages to capture the opening night moment.
After the opening night, the next competition nights of DIFF 2026 will continue to take place on Saturday evenings every week with matches: France - Vietnam (Team Z121) on June 6, Japan - Italy on June 13, Germany - Macau (China) on June 20, Australia - Portugal on June 27. The final ranking night will take place on the evening of July 11.
