"duld You Marry Me" is a new romantic comedy on Korean screens. The story revolves around Yoo Meri (Jung So Min) - the female CEO of a design company who had difficulty after her future husband had an affair and canceled her marriage.
She accidentally won the award for a luxurious bride's house, but to receive the gift, the prerequisite was to be "a newlywed couple". Therefore, Meri proposed a fake 9-day marriage with Kim Woo Joo (Choi Woo Sik) - the heir to the oldest bakery in Korea - who also had the same name as his ex-fiance.
The film has now aired its first two episodes with a positive viewership rating, reaching 5.6% and 6.4%, respectively. The film is told in a humorous style, with "half-crying, half-laughing" situations appearing consecutively. In addition, Choi Woo Sik and Jung So Min's appearances are a beautiful couple.
However, the film script about contract marriage and getting married before and after does not have many surprising details. Jung So Min's character still has a straightforward, outspoken personality, talented at work, but is emotionally damaged.
The audience once saw Jung So Min's Bae Seok Ryu in "Mother's Friend's Son" - a girl with the model of "other person's child" - studying well, working at a famous corporation but having an incident, having to cancel her marriage and return home to live.
Or in First Life, her assistant screenwriter Yoon Ji Ho struggled to be independent, make efforts to be recognized, successful in work, and even agreed to marry designer Nam Se Hee (Lee Min Ki) after only a few meetings because she wanted to save money on rent...
It can be seen that the works Jung So Min shows often have a common point in that they revolve around the problems that young people in their 30s face, which easily creates sympathy with viewers, but invisibly this is Jung So Min's weakness. The reason is that she has accepted roles with the same colors for a long time, her acting style is not too new, so she does not leave much of an impression.
With the advantage of appearance, and the ability to combine well with co-stars, the audience is looking forward to Jung So Min's breakthrough in thorny, individual images, when co-stars of the same age such as Shin Hye Sun, Lee Joo Bin, Kang Han Na... are also trying to change and consolidate their position.
