"Amber Cherry" is a project starring Zhao Jinmai and Zhang Linghe.
The film is set in the 90s, telling the story of a long-lasting love between Lam Ky Lac (Trieu Kim Mach) and Tuong Kieu Tay (Truong Lang Hac). The film is adapted from the novel of the same name by Van Tru, set in the 1990s. The actors' appearances are all in keeping with the timeline.
The first day of the film's opening only reached 8 million views, on the second day it was estimated at 12.5 million views (Van Hop market share was 4%). This is a rather modest achievement for a traffic star like Truong Lang Hac.
The reason the film has not broken through is because many viewers believe that in the early stages of the project, the plot line lacks seamlessness. Episode 1 only focuses on recounting the short childhood of the two main characters, one semester as friends and then separated for 5 years.
During that time, Lam Ky Lac continuously wrote letters but did not receive a response, she continued to write, even sending a long letter. This action made it difficult for viewers to sympathize, thinking that the screenwriter intentionally stuffed the image of a passionate, unreasonable female lead in a love story.
Some details were criticized by the audience as childish, lacking climax, quite boring. The emotional transformation in the film is considered forced, illogical and not well-led.
Truong Lang Hac has an aging appearance, far different from a high school student. Some people think that the actor looks more like a final year college student than a student.
On the contrary, Zhao Jinmai brings a feeling of being too immature, lacking the necessary charm of a female lead in a romantic film.
These reasons show that "Amber Cherry" is quite inferior to other films with the same theme.
However, some viewers believe that this is only the beginning of the film. The project could break through more in the following episodes.
