Having a special role in the film "Red Rain", Le Ha Anh shared with Lao Dong reporter about one of the most memorable film projects in her career.
Actress Le Ha Anh is one of the rare female characters in the movie Red Rain. How did you get the chance to play this special role?
- In the film, I play the role of a boat driver on the Thach Han River. From the audition round, I had too many emotions for the script "Red Rain". Reading each line of script, I imagined the battle, the hardships of soldiers in the 81 day and night battle. I understand part of the loss and pain that our ancestors have experienced in Quang Tri. I read a lot, researched a lot to have more documents for the role. When I watched the footage, I still cried a lot and felt so emotional.
I flew from Ho Chi Minh City to Hanoi to audition, anxiously waiting. The casting day had many candidates participating, I could only do my best.
She once shared that her grandfather was also a soldier who fought and sacrificed in Quang Tri. How did you feel when transforming into the character Hong in that heroic historical setting?
- I still remember when I auditioned, I was moved by every scene in the film. When I received the call to announce that I was playing Hong, I burst into tears, with no words to describe my emotions at that time. In my family, my grandfather was also a soldier who died in Quang Tri. Therefore, when participating in "Red Rain", I feel like I can connect with my grandfather, pay tribute to him and the martyrs who fell in this land.
I had the opportunity to learn rowing on the Thach Han River - an experience that not everyone has. I think this is the most precious memory of my life. I am grateful to have the opportunity to appear in this film.
Making films about history, the setting of bombs falling, bullets falling, and tense fighting is also a big challenge. Can Ha Anh share about a memory while filming in Quang Tri?
- I had a scene of a soldier hugging his backpack. I watched the rain filming that scene at the river wharf. After that, I fainted from being too moved and absorbed the cold rain. At that time, director Dang Thai Huyen continued filming behind the scenes, then she turned around and hugged me, without saying anything. The scenes in the film all give me strong emotions, I am always moved but have to suppress them to express the emotions of the characters.
Many actors participating in "Red Rain" shared that the film will become a milestone, an unforgettable memory in their career. What about actress Ha Anh?
- I'm certainly no exception. Having the opportunity to appear in the film "Red Rain" is an achievement, a precious gift for me. This is also a tribute to those who fell in the battle to gain independence for the nation. In each work I participate in, I try my best, challenging myself. With "Red Rain", I think the role of Hong will be the role of my life.
Looking back on her journey from winning the 2011 Fashion Star contest to the films she has participated in, at the age of 30, how does Le Ha Anh shape her upcoming path with art?
- At each stage of my life, I have to experience many new things.Because there are things that others know but I don't know. With each film, each stage I have gone through, I hope to accumulate life experience, knowledge, and improve myself more to be better every day.
