Duong Mich has outstanding films but continuously misses awards
2026 marks the opposite developments of Yang Mi on the Chinese television awards race.
With "Sinh Van Vat", the actress is assessed to have made a significant shift compared to previous commercial works. The movie aired in 2025, Duong Mich plays Ninh Tu Tu with a character's journey spanning many stages of life.
The success of the work helped Duong Mich return to the Bach Ngoc Lan race after 15 years. At the 31st Bach Ngoc Lan Awards, "Sinh Van Vat" received 8 nominations, in which Duong Mich competed in the Best Actress category.
However, Duong Mich could not convert the nomination into a victory. The Best Actress award finally belonged to Duong Tu. "Sinh Van Vat" is still recognized in other categories, in which Tri Bong won Best Supporting Actress.
In the 33rd Golden Eagle Awards, Duong Mich continued to face disadvantages. "Sinh Van Vat" is among the 36 television dramas nominated, but she is not named in the group of 6 Best Leading Actress candidates.
This list includes Ma Yili, Ren Suchi, Yan Ni, Yang Zi, Wu Yue and Song Jia. Yang Mi's absence attracted attention because previously "Sinh Van Vat" was considered one of the important works in her acting transition process.
Thus, in 2026 alone, Duong Mich went from returning to nominate Bach Ngoc Lan after 15 years without winning, to not being nominated in the top 6 Best Actress at Golden Eagle.
Zhao Liying misses nomination after a period of sublimation
Zhao Liying's case creates another paradox. In 2024, the actress once had a period of resounding success with "Wind Blows Half Summer", successively winning Best Actress at Phi Thien and Kim Ung. Moving on to the 2026 award cycle, Trieu Le Dinh continues to have "Tieu Thanh Dai Su" participating in the Golden Eagle race. Notably, the film is named in the 36 nominated works, but Trieu Le Dinh did not enter the group of 6 Best Actresses.
The result caused the two prominent young actresses to fall into a similar situation: "Sinh Van Vat" by Duong Mich and "Tieu Thanh Dai Su" by Trieu Le Dinh were both recognized by Kim Ung in the work category, while the two female leads both stopped before the individual nomination round for the top female leads.
This also shows that the heat of the work and the acting reputation do not mean absolute advantage at professional awards.
According to official information, Kim Ung for the 33rd time received 719 entries, including 203 works in the television film category. The evaluation process goes through qualification checks, two online voting rounds and preliminary and final rounds before determining the nomination list.
For Duong Mich, 2026 shows that the transformation process has brought recognition but still lacks a major award to create a milestone. Meanwhile, Trieu Le Dinh faces the problem of maintaining achievements after a period of continuous honors.
