The tempo of Lisa Blackpink's Rockstar song can save lives

Lisa Blackpink's Rockstar is recognized by the American Heart Association as the perfect tempo song that can save a patient's life through CPR.

According to Korean media, Blackpink's Lisa is not only one of the top Asian artists of this decade, but she has also become an inspiration to many young people around the world.

And now, her music is classified as being in sync with the rhythm of CPR (a set of emergency procedures for patients with cardiac or respiratory arrest) that can save lives.

According to the American Heart Association (AHA), Lisa's slower version of "Rockstar" has the perfect pace and life-saving rhythm for hands-only CPR.

At 120 beats per minute, the song's steady rhythm matches the ideal tempo for chest compressions during CPR, potentially turning music into a lifesaver for people who have stopped breathing or stopped their heart.

There are a number of songs for this situation including hits like Hips Don't Lie by Shakira, Just Dance by Lady Gaga, Crazy in Love by Beyonce, Uptown Funk by Mark Ronson and Bruno Mars, Staying Alive by the Bee Gees and now, the American Heart Association added "Rockstar" by Blackpink's Lisa.

Since 2016, Lisa and the members of Blackpink have broken many records, becoming one of the biggest pop groups in the world.

Last year, 2023, they became the first K-pop girl group to headline Coachella. Each member has released solo albums, with Lisa releasing “Lalisa” in 2021. She signed a solo deal with RCA earlier this year and also launched her own new management company, LLOUD Co.

"Rockstar" is Lisa's first single under this new partnership.

In a 2022 interview with Rolling Stone, Lisa shared her big career ambitions. "I respect everyone's role in Blackpink. I don't want to break this image, I want to continue doing what I'm doing in Blackpink. But personally, I have a lot of things I want to try. I love photography, I want to try acting, and more," she said.

Lisa (real name Lalisa Manobal) is the only non-Korean member of Blackpink. She was born and raised in Thailand, before being discovered in a YG Entertainment audition when she was only 14 years old.

Lisa moved to Korea in 2011 to begin her training and spent 5 years as a trainee. She officially debuted as a member of Blackpink in 2016.
