On March 21, the 50th civil court of the Seoul Central District Court approved the ban request submitted by ADOR against 5 members of NewJeans, requesting a ban on group activities outside ADOR.
Previously, after an emergency press conference held by NewJeans members on November 28, ADOR filed a request for a ban in January this year. The agency stated, "The fact that NewJeans members performed independent activities under a new group name before the court made an official decision on their case is a serious breach of contract."
On the afternoon of March 21, the NewJeans band responded: "Today, the court has issued a decision related to the ban. NewJeans respects the court's decision. However, we believe that this decision does not take into account the complete breakdown of trust that the members have experienced in ADOR.
Due to the urgent nature of the ban procedure, the decision was issued about two weeks after the hearing on March 7. Therefore, we did not have enough opportunities to fully present the actual context in court. In addition, due to information imbalance, ADOR and HYBE have full access to all information related to members' entertainment activities, while members are forced to contact relevant parties separately to request information.
The pressure to participate in a lawsuit, along with the fear of retaliation, also prevents many people from cooperating.
We have a plan to protest today's decision through the protest procedure, in which we will raise additional legal issues and submit additional supporting evidence. Above all, until the termination of the exclusive contracts, we have diligently fulfilled our obligations. We have not committed any wrongdoings.
On the contrary, ADOR and HYBE, behind the scenes, continue to treat us unfairly and unequally, eventually destroying our relationship of trust. It is only a matter of time before the truth becomes clear. It is important to note that the ban is a temporary measure...
Although we are going through a very difficult time, we are still calm and strong, always thinking about the fans continuing to support NewJeans and Bunnies (NewJeans' fandom name). NewJeans values their promise to fans above all and we will give our all to the remaining legal process so that we can once again connect with you with true joy.
As we have stated before, regardless of the financial issue, we cannot continue to stay with a board that has disrespected our identity and undermined our achievements. The reason we pursue this legal action is to protect our dignity and rights...".
