According to the Korea Herald, NJZ's (NewJeans) fandom "Team Bunnies" announced that 30,000 fans of the group have filed a lawsuit to request the ban of ADOR company filed in January to maintain the management of this girl group.
ADOR is NewJeans' former management company, now renamed NJZ, after the members unilaterally terminated their exclusive contracts in November 2024.
Fans fully support the members decision to terminate their contracts, as we believe they were being mistreated by HYBE (ADORs parent company) and Chairman Bang Si Hyuk. We are concerned that such a hostile environment will not change, said Team Bunnies in the petition.
Fans also pointed out the members' too young age - Minji and Hanni at 20, Danielle at 19, Haerin at 18, Hyein at 16 - emphasizing that forcing them to be in an unbearable working environment was unfair.
"A 7-year contract is an important part of a Kpop idol's life. It is cruel to keep these young artists in a company that they can no longer trust, especially when one of them is still a minor," the fan community added.
In addition, the petition raised concerns about the leak of NJZ's trainee videos, condemning HYBE and ADOR's handling of the situation.
Fans expressed their anger and disappointment, claiming that both the members and the fandom had been exposed to the company's intervention and media manipulation for nearly a year.
The petition also argues that forcing members to continue working in a hostile environment will only prolong their suffering, while reducing fans' enjoyment of the group's music and activities.
Fans have called on the court to reject ADOR's ban request, allowing NJZ members to pursue a career in a safe and supportive environment.
Meanwhile, major music production organizations in Korea have expressed concern that the unilateral termination of contracts with ADOR by NewJeans members could cause instability in the Kpop industry.
The Seoul Central District Court held the first hearing on ADOR's ban lawsuit on March 7. The court will review additional documents until Friday before making a final decision.
