According to the tradition of the theater industry, the 12th of August of the lunar calendar every year is the death anniversary of the ancestors, which has special meaning for those working in the arts.
The event is an opportunity for artists to pay tribute to their predecessors, the previous generation of artists who built and created the traditional performing arts. Therefore, many ancestral memorial stages were set up and artists gathered to offer incense in memory.
At the 5B Small Stage Drama Theater, the director, People's Artist My Uyen, announced on her personal page: "Saturday is the death anniversary of the theater's founder. We gather together again, offer incense to pay respect to our ancestors, and hope for peace and prosperity for the theater.
My Uyen and the artists of Stage 5B also fixed up the altar, prepared offerings and laid out a carpet to invite everyone to the Ancestor Ceremony.
However, People's Artist My Uyen added that at this time, people in the northern mountainous region are facing difficulties and are heavily affected by storms and floods, so they need the cooperation of the community, both human and material resources, to overcome the consequences of natural disasters.
Therefore, People's Artist My Uyen hopes that instead of preparing offerings to the ancestors, artists will use that money to support people in flood-affected areas.
"The total amount of donations will be publicly listed on the theater's fanpage, and we will transfer it to the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Ho Chi Minh City to support our compatriots," People's Artist My Uyen announced.
At Trinh Kim Chi Drama Theater, Runner-up - People's Artist Trinh Kim Chi also said that all the donations from artists, benefactors and audiences will be sent to support people in the North to overcome natural disasters and floods.
Previously, on September 13, the amount of money donated by People's Artist Trinh Kim Chi was announced on her personal page as 30 million VND. On September 16, she and other artists will summarize the amount and donate it to charitable organizations.
In recent times, many artists have joined hands to help people affected by natural disasters by donating money, goods or participating in relief efforts in affected areas.
Many charity activities by artists have been organized to raise money to help flood victims.
The charity concert Towards the North on the evening of September 13 is a large-scale event gathering many artists. The event has the participation of "talents" in the program Brother Who Overcomes Thousands Of Thorns such as Bui Cong Nam, Duy Khanh... or singers such as Toc Tien, Bao Anh, Phuong My Chi.
The music night raised 9.3 billion VND to donate to flood victims.
