Tan Nhan's full name is Nguyen Thi Tan Nhan, born in 1982, in Ha Nam. Tan Nhan became famous after winning the first prize in the Folk music category of the Sao Mai contest in 2005.
After graduating from the Vietnam National Academy of Music, Tan Nhan continued to study at the university majoring in Classical operatic Music, and worked as a lecturer at the Vietnam National Academy of Music.
In 2019, the female singer received a PhD in Musicology. In 2023, Tan Nhan was awarded the title of Meritorious Artist. Currently, Tan Nhan is the Head of the Vocal Department of the Vietnam National Academy of Music.
Looking back on her 20-year journey, since "the wheel change" of winning the first prize in the folk music category at Sao Mai 2005, Tan Nhan said: "I have had a very long journey with music. When I was in grade 10, many friends of the same age did not know what I would do in the future, and had not clearly defined my wishes, but I had a strong passion for music.
Since I was a child, I have been determined to follow music, become a lecturer... Because of those wishes, I have been very determined in my career journey, determined the goals to achieve, and made efforts to achieve my dream.
In a conversation with Lao Dong reporter, Tan Nhan admitted that in order to make a mark on her music career and become a lecturer at the National Academy of Music in 20 years, the female singer had to make a trade-off, including making a trade-off in terms of time for her family, making a trade-off when she could not have youth to play - doing things she wanted like friends... All of Tan Nhan's time was spent studying and running shows to earn money to cover her studies.
I have tried very hard and the thing that makes me most proud of myself is that I have completed my studies. To go to school for that long, I had to sacrifice other pleasures. Perhaps, I have not had innocent poetry, without youth to play like your friends. I am old compared to old, mature early, and diligently pursue my dreams... - Tan Nhan said.
When asked, to get the title of Meritorious Artist or Doctorate, what factors are needed: actually, effort or luck? Tan Nhan said: "All that is needed. In the journey of 20 years, I have encountered many destinations, the help of friends, teachers, and many good people who have supported and helped me. I have also made great efforts and determination to live fully with music, and to fulfill my dream of teaching in the Vocal Department at the Vietnam National Academy of Music.
