As of April 19, the actor's lawyer has confirmed that all fees required for the lawsuit, which amounted to more than 38 million won (about $26,790,), have been fully paid.
The lawsuit was filed in March, seeking 12 billion won (about $8.76 million) in damages. In a press conference, Kim Soo Hyun clarified that his relationship with Kim Sae Ron only began after she grew up and lasted about a year.
He also accused the late actor's family of editing KakaoTalk messages to suggest the untruth about a longer past. According to Kim Soo Hyun, forensic analysis confirmed that the messages were not from him.
The Seoul Central District Court issued a correction order (some information in the lawsuit) earlier this month, fuelling speculation when Kim Soo Hyun's legal team requested an extension on April 16.
However, Kim Soo Hyun's lawyer explained that this request was a procedural one - aimed at verifying the defendants' addresses, especially a person known as a "fake news", whose identity remains unknown (this person claimed to be the aunt of the late artist Kim Sae Ron and acted against Kim Soo Hyun).
"It's difficult because we still haven't been able to confirm her name, phone number... (ie the fake aunt)," said the lawyer.
"But she has also been charged with a crime, so her identity will eventually be confirmed in the upcoming investigation," the lawyer added.
The lawyer added that police could track her through phone records from other stakeholders. Although it is not yet clear when the first trial will take place, it is expected to take place in parallel with the ongoing criminal investigation.
