The practical guide to love" (tentative translation: Love Handbook, broadcast on the evening of February 28) tells the story of Lee Ui Young (Han Ji Min) - a woman who decides to pursue love through eye contact.
When meeting two men, Song Tae Seob (Park Sung Hoon) and Shin Ji Soo (Lee Ki Taek) with different attractions, she faces difficult choices. This is also the beginning of Ui Young's journey to discover the meaning of true love.
Sharing about the work, Han Ji Min said she was attracted to the script because it portrays the real stories and concerns about love that people often see around her, especially among people of marriageable age.
While director Lee Jae Hoon revealed his first impression of the film was "setting up the female lead to work in the purchasing department of a hotel" and "examining the story of people silently working behind the glamorous space".
Instead of a luxurious lobby, we focused on the stories of people working in the kitchen, warehouse and corridor. After a thorough consultation and research process, we built a realistic picture of their professional lives with many vivid details.
With screenwriter Lee Yi Jin, she said that the original work was too attractive, so it did not take much time to think when she received the adaptation request.
The interesting thing about the story is the context exploiting the topic of eye contact. Right from the first episode, the film looked straight at reality, that natural meetings and considering the conditions of the other person are not easy at all.
Although it may feel a bit dry, I think this will be a love story that people in their 30s - when they have more responsibilities in life - can empathize with.
Regarding the topic of visuals, director Lee said that this can be considered a fairly normal "material" for a TV series, but also because of its closeness, it can create very empathetic moments.
Screenwriter Lee also said that because she liked the original too much, she tried to depict the entire work, from the determination to go see her eyes, the funny and tearful situations at the dating table to the worries when transitioning to a relationship.
The director added that the interestingness of the story will be conveyed through the real acting of the cast. Besides, the appearance of diverse guest actors playing the roles of hidden viewers of the female lead will also make the film more attractive.
Meanwhile, the screenwriter sent a message: "If when watching the movie, the audience asks themselves how they loved in the past, or if it were me, what choice would I make, perhaps it will be even more interesting. I hope all those who watch this movie will not easily give up love, but continue to pursue it in their own way.
