Law and the City (Vietnamese title: Seocho Ward Lawyer) revolves around 5 lawyers - Ahn Ju Hyeong (Lee Jong Suk), Kang Hui Ji (Moon Ga Young), Cho Chang Won, Bae Mun Jeong (Ryu Hye Young) and Ha Sang Gi (Im Seong Jae) as they together overcome challenges in work and daily life.
Officially aired from the evening of July 5, up to now, " Seocho Ward Lawyer" has aired 4/12 episodes. The viewership rating of the show ranges from 4.4% - 5.6%, according to Nielsen Korea. This is not a very high number compared to the work shown in the weekend, but it is still a stable number compared to the film genre of the "slice of life" genre.
After 4 episodes, the work and life of the 5 young lawyers are gradually recreated. If in episode 1, the film's pace was quite slow, focusing on introducing the past - present or their daily meals, then in episode 2, the legal elements in the film appeared more.
Notable among them is the scene where Ju Hyeong and Hui Ju debate in civil court over home loans, Hui Ju struggles when facing a medical case, Ju Hyeong is confused when meeting ex-girlfriend Park Su Jeong (Lee Yoo Young) at the divorce court...
In each episode, the 5 lawyers, although sometimes controversial due to differences of views, always accompany each other at meals. Even the title on the film poster: "We go to work because of broken rice" made many people laugh, because it was similar to them in real life.
On screen, the cast plays well. Lee Jong Suk maintains his youthful and handsome appearance. Taking on the role of a lawyer with 9 years of experience, the actor's character scored points with logical thinking, mastered legal knowledge and achieved a high winning rate.
Meanwhile, Moon Ga Young's character is an enthusiastic, straightforward first-year lawyer. The actress is praised for being beautiful when sometimes acting with Lee Jong Suk, but the "chemistry" between the two is not too "touching" the emotions of the audience.
As for Ryu Hye Young - the famous beauty of the movie " replied 1988" with a role that was different in appearance and personality, but because there was not much "land" for acting, the character Bae Mun Jeong that she played was not clearly shown.
Up to now, " Seocho Ward Lawyer" is still a work that has received the attention and sympathy of a part of the audience who love gentle, "healing" films. However, this is also considered the reason why the work will hardly be able to break through in terms of viewership in the later stages.
