According to the Korean Film Council, "The Eyes" officially surpassed the 1 million views mark on the afternoon of July 9.
The film premiered on June 24 and is currently ranked 6th in the Korean box office revenue chart in 2026 and still maintains positive growth momentum as it enters its second week of release. Notably, the audience of "The Eyes" in its second week is even higher than the first week, showing the positive word-of-mouth effect of the work.
The Eyes" belongs to the horror - thriller genre, telling the story of Seo Jin (Shin Min Ah) - a photographer who gradually loses sight due to a hereditary disease. When her twin sister Seo In suddenly passes away in a mysterious situation, she is determined to investigate the truth herself.
In the process of following the clues, Seo Jin discovers that her older sister was secretly preparing for eye surgery and has a connection with a mysterious man. The investigation quickly puts her in danger when she faces Hyun Min - a follower wearing an electronic surveillance ring and suspected of being behind Seo In's death.
The work is highly appreciated thanks to the tense atmosphere, the script with many knots, and Shin Min Ah's performance as twin sisters. To realistically recreate the deteriorated vision of the character, the actress spent a lot of time practicing how to control her gaze and expressions.
Previously, director Yeom Ji Ho said that he chose Shin Min Ah because he wanted an actress who was strong enough to take on the entire story and bring a fresh image in the horror film genre.
With the achievement of surpassing the milestone of 1 million viewers in just over two weeks of release, "The Eyes" is not only a notable mark of Shin Min Ah in a genre that is not her forte, but is also becoming one of the outstanding works of the Korean box office this summer.
