Recently, Rose (Blackpink) appeared as a guest in a special talk show about Grammys of "Call Her Daddy" hosted by Alex Cooper.
This time, Alex came to Korea to experience life in Seoul through Rose's perspective. Rose introduced Alex to all her favorite locations in the city and shared about finding herself, healing after toxic relationships, being nominated for the first Grammy, facing harsh media and returning to Blackpink after a year of changing solo activities.
Rose has debuted as a Blackpink member for nearly 10 years, but she has never publicly announced any romantic relationship.
Regarding keeping her personal love affair secret, the female singer said: "I have never publicly announced my love affair and most of the reason is because I want to protect the person I love. I feel heartbroken when people close to me are attacked.
I accept being the center of attention because it's my job, but it's unfair that someone I care about is drawn into those things.
Currently, with what I have experienced with the fan community, I am not sure if I feel absolutely safe or not. Perhaps in the future, if I really believe that the media can protect me, then I will feel more comfortable. But at this time, I think many people can understand that feeling.
Even, there were times when Rose became extremely obsessed with being discovered, to the point of having to order wigs and clothes online, and then carefully study the way older women in Korea dress to avoid being photographed when dating ex-boyfriends.
I used to have some really crazy (date) ways. Once I was so confused that I thought, "I can't be seen, absolutely can't". So I ordered things online. I bought a pair of black, curly, short wigs.
I started observing what older people, like grandmothers, usually wear on the street. I told myself: "Oh, they wear that kind of dress, that kind of shoes, that kind of bag." I finished researching, then ordered, and then dressed exactly like that to go to my ex-boyfriend's house," the female singer revealed.
She explained that because she and her ex-boyfriend could not appear together anywhere, every time she went to his house, she had to disguise herself. Dispatch is famous for often catching couples in the Korean entertainment industry meeting in front of their private houses.
The Blackpink star said that she does this so much that there is even a corner in the house dedicated to "grandmother's things".
There was a time, at my house, now it's all gone, but I used to have a whole area just for grandmother's clothes, because I bought too much. It's all long blue dresses, floral patterns, to cover up all my characteristics," Rose confessed.
When asked if her ex-boyfriend "played the role" with her, Rose shared: "I think so too, the look is a bit more "old man" but not as crazy as wearing a wig. At one point, I even imitate the gait of an elderly person.
Before the question: "Are you dating the role right now?", Rose smiled shyly, covered her face and replied humorously: "I feel that if I say no, it's a lie, people can recognize it immediately. To be honest, I'm looking for love".
