On the morning of September 22, the People's Court of Region 2 - Ho Chi Minh City held a first-instance trial for the dispute over determining father for son between plaintiff Trinh Tran Phuong Tuan (singer Jack - J97) and defendant Tran Nguyen Thien An.
Besides the DNA test results and the issue of determining father-child relationship, one of the contents of concern at the trial was the financial support and care process for the girl born in 2021.
According to Thien An's presentation at the trial, after giving birth, the baby girl completely lived with her. Initially, Jack supported 76 million VND via bank transfer and 30 million VND in cash, totaling 106 million VND. However, Thien An said that after about 5-6 months, she did not receive this additional support.
If only dividing an average of 106 million VND for the 5-6 month period that Thien An mentioned, the amount is equivalent to about 17.7-21.2 million VND/month (during the period with subsidies).
Thien An said she never asked Jack for alimony
At the trial, Thien An said that after the above period, the cost of taking care of her child was mainly borne by her, with the support of her mother and younger sister. Currently, the baby is 5 years old.
The actress also affirmed that she had never asked Jack to provide for her. According to Thien An, the most difficult time was the first three years of her child's life, but Jack did not appear. She expressed concern that sudden changes when the child grew up and had a stable life could cause disruption.
On the contrary, Jack admitted in court that he should have fulfilled his responsibility to his child sooner. The male singer said he felt guilty and wanted to be recognized by law for the father-son relationship, so that the baby would have his father's name on the birth certificate.
Jack also affirmed that he has no intention of separating his child from his mother or competing for custody.
Jack plans to spend his own money for his son.
When asked by the Panel of Judges about how to fulfill his father's responsibilities in the coming time, Jack said that because his child does not yet know him, he wants to approach slowly.
The male singer said that he will arrange time to take care of his child and prepare a separate amount of money to serve his child's studies when he reaches 18 years old. However, at the trial, Jack did not announce the specific amount of money planned for his child.
The Panel of Judges then accepted the lawsuit, determining that Jack was the biological father of the girl and had the rights and obligations of a father in accordance with the law.
