Variety of topics
The movie currently leading the box office is the horror movie “Lynx: Ghost in the intestines” with revenue exceeding 40 billion VND after only 3 days of release. “Lynx: Ghost in the intestines” brings together actors such as: Hong Dao, Thien An, Samuel An... and especially has the participation of Miss Thuy Tien. The movie is inspired by the legend of lynx and the phenomenon of ghost in the intestines that is passed down by word of mouth among the people. The content of the movie revolves around the mysterious stories that take place in the Duong Phuc family - a wealthy family with the traditional ceramic inlay profession in Hue.
Besides exploiting spiritual elements, the appearance of Miss Thuy Tien as a maid is also one of the factors that increases the audience's curiosity.
According to the schedule announced by the producer, from now until the end of the year, there will be a series of Vietnamese films "landing" in theaters such as: "Cong Tu Bac Lieu" (released on December 6), "Kinh Kaleidoscope" (released on December 27), "Chi Dau" (released on December 20). These are all works that audiences are looking forward to because of the gathering of talented actors.
“Cong Tu Bac Lieu” stars Song Luan and Cong Duong - two “older brothers” who are hot after coming out of the show “Anh trai say hi”, and Kaity Nguyen - a leading young actress of Vietnamese cinema. The film “Cong Tu Bac Lieu” revolves around the confrontation between Black Prince (played by Ba Hon - Song Luan) and White Prince (played by Tu Phat - Cong Duong). Meanwhile, “Kinh Van Hoa” is adapted from a series of books by writer Nguyen Ngoc Anh that has been associated with the childhood of many generations. Director Vo Thanh Hoa shared that the film version of “Kinh Van Hoa” is not only a film about the theme of school but also a colorful journey that brings the audience back to the joyful and bustling days of youth.
As for "Sister-in-law", it revolves around a family story with modern sister-in-law and brother-in-law relationships.
Hard to explode
In 2024, "Mai" will still maintain the Top 1 position with revenue of more than 500 billion VND and "Lat mat 7: Mot uoc uoc" will have revenue of nearly 500 billion VND.
“Linh Luc: Quy Nhap Trang” directed by Vo Thanh Hoa is expected to join the “club” of hundred billion dong movies because this movie currently has almost no competitors. However, to have an explosion and close the gap with “Mai” and “Lat mat 7: Mot giau uoc” is still too far and difficult to achieve.
Although it was highly appreciated for both its staging and the performances of the young actors, “Once Upon a Time There Was a Love Story” by director Trinh Dinh Le Minh (adapted from the novel of the same name by writer Nguyen Nhat Anh) did not resonate as expected. One of the factors that made “Once Upon a Time There Was a Love Story” lose out was that it had to compete with too many foreign blockbusters such as: “Venom: Last Bet”, “Tee Yod 2: Ghost Eater 2”, “Red One: Red Code”… and a Vietnamese film that received a lot of attention before, “The Bride of a Rich Family”.
Another film is “Cu li khong bao nuoc” (Cu li khong bao nuoc) directed by Pham Ngoc Lan. The film won the “Best Debut Film” award at the 74th Berlin Film Festival. Among the upcoming films, “Cong Tu Bac Lieu” and “Kinh Kale” are highly anticipated by audiences and are expected to achieve good revenue to close out a colorful 2024 for Vietnamese cinema.
