On June 12, Vo Thi Thanh B. (20 years old, from Quang Tri), a contestant of the Miss Vietnam 2024 contest, posted an apology on her personal Facebook after a clip of her performing a dance in front of the Thai Hoa Palace Bridge (Hue Imperial City) caused controversy on social media.
Previously, B. shared a video recording the talent competition, in which she wore a renovation ao dai, danced and played on a table placed in the center of the throne - the throne and also a symbol of the power of the Nguyen Dynasty.
The clip recorded the girl climbing onto a table, showing dancing movements.
After the clip was posted and spread across social networks, it received mixed opinions from viewers. Many people think that they cannot accept the image of a girl dancing with a machine, climbing onto a tea table in front of the Thai Hoa Palace's main hall.
"No one prohibits beauty from being present. But beauty must also be in the right place, at the right time, and at the right value - Facebook account Tran Cong Nhat wrote.
In response to mixed reactions, B. removed the clip and posted an apology, admitting her shortcomings, saying that she should have been more careful and ready to take responsibility for her actions.
"This shortcoming led to my performance not being suitable for historical culture, causing misunderstandings and bad emotions in the hearts of the audience. As a contestant participating in the contest, I should have been much more careful and prepared" - Thanh B. expressed on social media.
After her apology, she received many shares and encouragement from the online community.
