A strong mark in social security work
In the period of 2014 - 2024, the Vietnam Fatherland Front of Ho Chi Minh City left its mark with many effective models in the field of social security. Responding to the movement "For the poor - leave no one behind", the Vietnam Fatherland Front of Ho Chi Minh City and its member organizations have mobilized thousands of billions of VND to care for people in difficult circumstances. The "For the Poor" Fund alone has spent more than 1,940 billion VND to build new and repair more than 10,400 charity houses; awarded nearly 194,000 scholarships; supported livelihoods, issued more than 338,000 health insurance cards and cared for tens of thousands of disadvantaged people during Tet.
On the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification Day (April 30, 1975 - April 30, 2025), Ho Chi Minh City has built and repaired 898 houses with a total cost of nearly 50 billion VND. Thanks to that, the poverty rate of Ho Chi Minh City has decreased sharply, from 1.49% to only 0.33%, exceeding the target set ahead of schedule.
The Vietnam Fatherland Front of Ho Chi Minh City also promotes the role of connecting and mobilizing domestic and foreign social resources to care for many aspects of people's lives. From building schools, health stations, bridges and residential roads, giving wheelchairs and bicycles, organizing free medical examination and treatment to programs to repay gratitude, support Vietnamese Heroic Mothers... are all widely implemented, with a total cost of nearly 13 billion VND.
Natural disaster relief work has been promoted, demonstrating the spirit of mutual love of the people of Ho Chi Minh City. In 2024, Ho Chi Minh City has supported 332 billion VND and 280 tons of goods for the northern provinces affected by storm No. 3 (Yagi). On the occasion of the 70th anniversary of the Dien Bien Phu Victory, Ho Chi Minh City also contributed 10 billion VND to build 200 solidarity houses in Dien Bien province.
During the difficult period of the COVID-19 pandemic, the Vietnam Fatherland Front of Ho Chi Minh City once again demonstrated its role as a center of solidarity when mobilizing nearly 7,000 billion VND from the community to implement emergency social security programs. Models such as ATM rice, Zero-dong kitchen, religious volunteer teams, F0 recovery from illness to participate in frontline support... have strongly spread the spirit of humanity and sharing throughout society.
Connecting the entire population, unanimously building a developed city
According to Mr. Nguyen Thanh Trung - Permanent Vice Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Ho Chi Minh City, under the regular leadership and direction of the City Party Committee, the guidance of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front, along with the coordination and support of authorities at all levels and the active support of member organizations, the Vietnam Fatherland Front of Ho Chi Minh City has effectively implemented the activities.
The successful organization of the Congresses of the Vietnam Fatherland Front at all levels and the 12th Congress of the Vietnam Fatherland Front of Ho Chi Minh City, term 2024-2029, is a clear demonstration of the spirit of solidarity, responsibility and innovation of the entire Front system of Ho Chi Minh City.
Mr. Nguyen Thanh Trung said that in 2024, the Vietnam Fatherland Front and its member organizations proactively advised Party committees and closely coordinated with the government in implementing the Party's targets and resolutions, associated with the Program for coordinating and unifying actions. The activities are implemented with focus, practicality, efficiency and creativity.
Member organizations promote their proactive role, building many models such as: Self-management in the community, maintaining security and order, protecting the environment, supporting the disadvantaged... contributing to improving the effectiveness of coordination. Campaigns and patriotic emulation movements continue to be innovated, attracting a large number of people to participate. Social supervision and criticism work has been promoted, grassroots democracy has been increasingly promoted.
The Vietnam Fatherland Front at all levels continues to play a good role in presiding over and coordinating the political system, strongly mobilizing the participation of member organizations, departments, units and people of all walks of life, contributing to improving the quality of activities and the effectiveness of the Front's work in the new development period.
With outstanding contributions over half a century, the Vietnam Fatherland Front of Ho Chi Minh City is honored to receive many noble awards from the Party and State such as: Ho Chi Minh Medal, First Class Independence Medal, First Class Labor Medal, Fatherland Protection Medal... In particular, in April 2025, the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Ho Chi Minh City received the noble title of Labor Hero, affirming the position and role of the Front in the hearts of the people.
The title is not only a worthy reward for the persistent contributions but also a great source of encouragement for the Vietnam Fatherland Front of Ho Chi Minh City to continue to promote its core role in building the great national unity bloc, joining hands and being unanimous for the sustainable and comprehensive development of Ho Chi Minh City and the country in the new era.

The Vietnam Fatherland Front of Ho Chi Minh City is one of the typical groups nominated for honor at the Vinh Quang Vietnam 2025 program.
Vinh Quang Vietnam is a special political - cultural - social event directed by the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor, in coordination with the Central Emulation and Reward Committee, assigned to Lao Dong Newspaper to organize annually since 2004. This year, the program enters its 21st tenure with the theme "Pride and Aspiration", to honor collectives and individuals who have made outstanding contributions to the 80 years of building and defending the Fatherland, especially in the fields of digital economy, green economy, innovation and sustainable development.
The award ceremony is scheduled to take place on June 22, 2025 at the Vietnam-Soviet Friendship Labor Cultural Palace, Hanoi.
