Tom Holland has just made remarkable shares about the future of the Spider-Man character in a conversation on the podcast Happy Sad Confused. Previously, Marvel Studios and Sony were said to be preparing long-term steps for the Spider-Man brand, including the possibility of introducing Tom Holland's successor in the future.
According to People, the actor hopes to accompany and support the new generation, just like how Robert Downey Jr. helped him when he first joined the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU).
Tom Holland shared that if Marvel chooses another Spider-Man version like Miles Morales or a character suitable for the new direction, he is willing to contribute to the smooth transition process.
I want to do for my successor what Robert Downey Jr. did for me. If that becomes a reality, I will be very happy," he said.
In an interview in June, when asked about a specific candidate with sufficient potential for this brand, Tom Holland named Owen Cooper - the 16-year-old actor who became a global phenomenon from the movie Adolescence (2025).
Despite mentioning the transfer plan, Tom Holland affirmed that he has no intention of leaving the role in the near future. The actor continues to accompany the Spider-Man brand as long as Marvel/Sony still needs it and the story is still attractive. Currently, he is still working with the crew to promote the Spider-Man: Brand New Day project.
Tom Holland first appeared as Peter Parker in "Captain America: Civil War" (2016), before taking on the main role in three separate films and many works in the Avengers series. After nearly a decade of being associated with Marvel's famous superhero, he is still one of the most loved Spider-Man versions by audiences.
