To realize the growth goals in the coming period, tourism product development is identified as one of the key tasks of the city's tourism industry.
According to Ms. Bui Thi Ngoc Hieu - Deputy Director of Ho Chi Minh City Department of Tourism, the city will organize surveys, investigations and assessments of tourism resources to reposition products, build development orientations for new products. Based on clear management decentralization, the tourism industry will develop unique tourism products suitable for each locality.
In addition, focus on developing night tourism, associated with piloting public-private partnership mechanisms in the field of culture and sports such as night museum visits and art performances.
The Ho Chi Minh City Department of Tourism reviews and proposes amendments to regulations related to the conditions for the formation and operation of inland waterway wharves, passenger ports, wharves... to create favorable conditions for businesses to invest in and effectively exploit river and waterway infrastructure, and promote the development of waterway tourism.
The city also focuses on developing 3D/360-degree online tourism platforms in many languages, promoting culinary tourism and medical tourism products. For Con Dao, the development orientation is identified as tourism towards resources, ecology and sustainable resorts, associated with safety, resource conservation and destination capacity management criteria.
In parallel with product development, Ho Chi Minh City will develop policies to encourage tourism development, propose adjustments to administrative regulations in the direction of reducing procedures, creating a favorable investment environment for businesses.
In 2026, Ho Chi Minh City's tourism industry aims to welcome about 11 million international visitors, 50 million domestic visitors, with total tourism revenue estimated at about 330,000 billion VND.
