A person came to visit a friend's house, parked their car across the sidewalk of the neighbor's house. The neighbor tried every way to call the car owner so that he could drive the car to work. 30 minutes later, the car owner arrived and loudly said: "There is no no-parking sign here, what if I leave it here?" The two sides argued back and forth, and then the authorities had to intervene.
When everything was resolved after spending a lot of time and effort, the neighbor whose car was blocked just sighed: "At that time, if the car owner had just said an apology, things would have seemed simpler.
The above situation is very typical. An apology seems easy but many times feels very difficult. Is it because of too big an ego? Is it because of fear of admitting that you are wrong, that you are at fault? Conflicts in life often do not come from great things but may only come from small things without sincere apologies.
If society knows how to apologize and accept apologies, it will reduce arguments, conflicts and complicated cases.
But how to apologize is not a simple matter. A sincere apology must express sympathy, repentance and sincere regret, as well as a commitment to learn from past mistakes. In other words, the apologizer must truly understand that they were wrong, and regret the hurt they have caused.
Conversely, an apology with "signs" of lack of sincerity, apologizing to get it over with can create negative reactions, especially with social networks today. Recently, an artist, who can be called famous, after the noise of being named on social networks, went to the newspaper to answer in an interview with the title "I'm sorry, I didn't act well" and considered it officially apologizing to those who were hurt by him before.
The interview is quite long. But there are attentive audiences sitting and counting, that artist used up to 30 words "but". Admitting fault but for objective reasons, because of circumstances, because "it was like that at that time"... so the reader feels that the apology is too "wise". Therefore, partly blurring the two words "sincere".
Of course, the apology of a celebrity is harder than a... normal person. In life, apologies are very necessary, but if there is a lack or little sincerity, the apology can quickly turn into blame and clearly it does not show responsibility for the mistakes you have made.
Insincere apologies will be difficult to resolve the contradictions or conflicts that are inherently hidden in the parties.
