After nearly two decades of companionship, Yuri (Girls' Generation) officially parted ways with SM Entertainment.
The information was confirmed by the management company on July 31, closing the 19-year journey of cooperation between the female artist and the "big boss" of the Korean entertainment industry.
In an official announcement, SM Entertainment said that the two sides have reached an agreement to terminate the exclusive contract, effective from August 31, after a thorough exchange.
The company also sent thanks to Yuri for her contributions over the past time, and affirmed that it will always support her on the new journey.
Yuri debuted with Girls' Generation in 2007, contributing to bringing the K-pop wave to the global level and becoming a member of one of the typical girl groups of a generation.
Besides music, she also affirmed her mark in many fields such as acting, entertainment and hosting. That was a very meaningful time for SM Entertainment," the company shared.
Notably, SM Entertainment emphasized that the termination of the management contract will not affect the activities of Girls' Generation. This means Yuri will still continue to accompany the members when the group plans to reunite in the future.
Yuri joined SM Entertainment as a trainee and debuted with Girls' Generation in 2007.
Along with the group, she made her mark through a series of hit songs such as "Into the New World", "Gee, Genie", "The Boys" or "Forever 1", contributing to making Girls' Generation one of the most influential girl groups in K-pop history.
Not only successful in music, Yuri also built a stable acting career with many television and film dramas, and regularly appeared in entertainment programs thanks to her dynamic and multi-talented image.
Yuri's departure from SM Entertainment continues to extend the wave of Girls' Generation members seeking new directions after ending their long-term contract with the management company.
However, like many other members, she still maintains her status as a Girls' Generation member, bringing peace of mind to fans about the group's future.
After 19 years of attachment, the decision to leave SM Entertainment is considered a milestone opening a new chapter in Yuri's career.
Fans are also waiting for information about her next destination as well as personal projects that the female artist will pursue in the near future.
